has anyone noticed that you could beat a small army with a single general unit?

It is possible in BI, as long as there is no spearmen unit in the enemy line.
I've somewhat defeated a whole Roman army with my super Greek general once. It was fun.

It avoids general from dying so often, but sometimes it's just ridiculous when you can't take out just one guy. This is not so bad in Rome as it was in Medieval though...![]()
They seem to die immediately when hit by a catapult.

same experice with me in Viking invasion a sningle Viking Jarl (king) killed my king and his whole bodyguard unit he just wouldnt dieOriginally Posted by Pelayo
No, in MTW, it was Jedi Generals. You can't kill them. You would have tons of elite soldiers, and the general would just do that lame "This way, now this way!" attack animation, and slaughter them all. I would have the enemy general surrounded by hundreds or thousands of my own soldiers, and all of his bodyguards would be dead, all of his army routed, he alone remained to fight. And he would take out hundreds of my soldiers. Stupid jedi.

Wow, good thing I missed MTW, these Generals sound dangerous!
I don't use my Generals much, mainly just to keep order up and moral bonuses.

I was trying to suicide a crazy general once and he ended up with a huge number of stars, and a lot of toughness.
So I ended up keeping him until he died.
Yeah it really suprised me when my generel was attacked just byhimself, and i couldnt retreat so I was darn no point in fighting so I auto resolved 299 dead only lost 3 units. lol wasnt even a heroic victory

I once wanted to make this 16 year old boy my faction leader, and make him into the best general in the world(He was already a military genius in the beginning, the trait ofcourse, so it would be cool)
Anyway, to make him faction leader i had to kill off my old faction leader. I send him to attack this small rebel settlement, had about 4 units in it. Ended up winning, faction leader survived. Gained a settlement. It was that small town in Illyria. Forgot it's name.
The general unit was severely nerfed in RTW. Although no one here denies that a well-trained, well-equipped and disciplined cavalry unit was the supreme combating entity of its time, to rout like 1k peasants with it is downright pathetical - but fun, nevertheless.
