Default What you Like about this mod

So, I thought it could be useful for the future of this mod to make a thread where people can talk about the general aspects of it that draw them so much.
In case that you want to talk about some specific preference of yours, like the cuteness of Ordonian Goats or the complexity of Ganon's persona, this other thread might be for you; the point of this thread is exposing your reasons for liking this game as a whole and why would other people like it. Some easy examples are the deep variety between factions and the premise of a mature and complex Zelda game.

I for one enjoy the timeline that makes sense and how the lore folds with it.

the sheer scale of the world that has been created and of the course the fantastic variety of armies and settlements that are within. I think it is the greatest tribute to the legend of zelda ive ever come across, with the sheer amount of games that are paid homage to.

I like the way that Neph-lore fleshes some characters out in a much needed way. Majora was presented rather vaguely in MM, so its good to see his potential as a villain fulfilled.

I like the uniqueness of each faction in play style, specially in battle; most, if not all the factions have a different style in battle mode. Some of them glitchy or buggy for now, but still impressive. With the future addition of heroes abilities, this will be even better.

My favorite aspect of this mod, and the reason why it stands out so much from other mods is its unit variety and faction diversity.

Each faction is visually distinct, thus making it easy to determine what's what in a battle. Its pretty easy to tell where your Gorons are in relation to the Zora you are attacking. No two faction look alike or really play alike, and it makes replaying it a blast because they are all a unique play style.

To add onto that, there are just so many units in this game. Giant trees, fire breathing lizards, fish people, worm cavalry, skeletal dragons, and so on. There's a faction comprised entirely of wizards who shoot out extravagantly explosive projectiles. The Darknuts completely lack ranged units in their standard roster. Gunpowder is unique by limiting it to Labrynna, and the Sheika operate undercover on the world map.

What I am trying to say is that there is just so much to this mod which distinguishes itself not only from the base game, but most other mods as well. You really are never at a loss of seeing something new or having a different way to play the game.

Pretty much what I was thinking, just in different words.

The other reason why I like it so much is the massive and mature lore. Just seeing armies from the Zelda series alone (and using them) is enough to at least make this mod fun, and it goes above and beyond.

the lore and characters to me, I love retelling of stories.

...Drazule got there before me, but nonetheless I'd like to say I love the sheer range of playstyles this here mod affords.

(not to mention the distinct feel of each faction, the attention to detail in constructing the lore, the surprisingly nice community that's sprung up to support it....)

    What I Like:
    1. Faction Variety
    2. Hyrule Historia
    3. Freeform Campaign Events
    4. Custom Settlements
    5. Soundtrack
    6. Zelda Setting

    Spoiler for Details
    1. Faction Variety

Each faction is practically unique in its own way in terms of units and design. While of course there are some generic roles that need to be filled (cavalry, melee unit, ranged unit, siege), there are enough differences in terms of stats and unit composition that each faction stands on its own.

This point is further highlighted by unique gameplay mechanics in the Freeform Campaign that some factions utilize. Having Wizzrobes convert the populace while defeated Ikana forces march back through Termina Rifts are an excellent way to encourage replayablity.

    2. Hyrule Historia

I enjoy my stories in video games, especially if there are awesome cutscenes involved. Needless to say, so far the Hyrule Historia has delivered on story and cutscenes, but still seems to lack somewhat in terms of gameplay and balance. However, this may be a bias on my part due to foresight on how to accomplish the objectives beforehand instead of simply being dropped into the situation.

    3. Freeform Campaign Events

While as of present Freeform Campaign Events are not really implemented save for heroes, the events down the line such as the Twili Civil War and eventually the "end-game" Majora event are definitely aspects I look forward to playing. I love the Hyrule Historia for its story, but sandboxes will practically always have more replay value than experiencing the story again.

    4. Custom Settlements

Immersion. Custom Settlements accomplishes this task extremely well by giving almost each iconic location its own battlefield. Whether it be besieging the last refuge at Snowpeak or ascending to the top of Ontheon, these set pieces do wonders in immersing the player into Hyrule Total War.

    5. Soundtrack

I also love my music in video games and the soundtrack for Hyrule: Total War is no exception. Everything here is amazing to listen to, from Adam's renditions of classic Zelda melodies to the magnificence that is Two Steps From Hell, HTW's soundtrack is one that is listened to outside of the game itself.

    6. Zelda Setting

Of course, the Legend of Zelda setting helped guided me here. While I know basically nothing about the games or the stories therein, the familiarity of it all is enough to get me interested in this more darker rendition of Hyrule.

I love the faction variety, Freeform campaign, music, and bizarre setting (for a TW game, at least). I like the Hyrule Historia because of the shifting-viewpoints storytelling. It was interesting in games like Dawn of War and Warcraft and it translates very nicely to this Total War mod.

There are lots of things to add and lots of things to balance and fix but it's still very enjoyable. I look forward to playing even more of this mod when it has the same level of polish and development as Third Age.

    Everything.
Mainly faction variety however they all really feel rather different in comparison to vanilla and other mods especially with unique campaign goers like river zora.(To the point that I just tried to play them all at the same time in hotseat) A lack of balance is some what annoying however

I like that every faction is different. Different completely different unit rosters, building trees and faction bonuses make every faction a completely new experience to play with, that's insane replay value!
Also that every faction has such rich lore and ideology.

The fact that Neph is trying to tell a cohesive and continuous story. LoZ games are great, nobody denies that, but when Nintendo uses names like Lorule (seriously?) and seems insistent on rehashing older games for nostalgic profit, I can't help but feel let down. Nintendo entertains, and LoZ games are slowly becoming popcorn games. Which is... okay I guess, but I prefer games with story and depth. Twilight Princess has many flaws, but it was one of the few games in the series that felt directly linked to a previous game (Ocarina of Time), without slapping you in the face with its dong and screaming about it; it had a subtlety and maturity about it that some other games lacked. Heck, TP and the Oracles games (SO criminally underlooked--they've done more to increase the world of LoZ than any game before or since!) are some of my favourite games in the series, which gives me such a massive fanwank to read about the Manifest Destiny era.

Neph is also insanely clever. Almost every fanon theory is used and used well: Veran is a Twili, Gustaf does appear in this game, Majora is linked with the Twili sols, Onox is related to Stallord, etc. Wow.
