Default Isn't democracy lost for TWC modders?

I am a keen visitor of TWC since the early days of RTW, although - due to my professional and family obligations - I cannot participate actively in many discussions. Thus, I have only 50 interventions up until now. Today, I wanted to contribute to a most interesting discussion in Alchemist's Chambers regarding xpaking the MTWII .pack, but I was not permitted to, due to my "inferior citizen status". You may all find it nice to reproduce the Roman aristocracy system, but to me is a disgrace to our education and civilization standards. I do know that Romans conquered Greece, but I mean to believe that democracy has proven its superiority to all of us - their descendants or not. I am a free man and I mean to have my voice heard. And to exercise this right of mine I cannot expect TWC to aknowledge me as a Patrician or Senator! If I do, then my bit of contribution will be... postmortem of RTW.
Am I alone in this feeling?

Isn't part of 'democracy' accepting that when a group of people get together and form a community for whatever reason, they have a right to do so, as they please? Go to either Darth's or Sinuhet's sub-forums and post your comments there like everyone else does. I have quite often, and they are more than happy to respond. This site mimicks Rome Total War and the Roman structure, but it's for fun....it's for a game. It's not making a political statement.......

I agree with him. It's just a way for the community to express it's graditude to members who contributed helpfull stuff ( skins, tutorials, e.t.c.).

There are two other "Modability of the Demo" threads in locations where us lesser mortals can discuss unpacking the .pack

You could post there, or create a new topic in a more open forum area.

OK then, if you do think I am overeacting I won't insist on this issue. It was a matter of principles and not of "how to" moddality. Anyway, I thank you for your feedback.

No your not alone, i've thought about this since you posted it and in truth wasn't sure how to answer, as i had a hand in the structuring of the workshop i can only give what i hope is fair reasoning, The alchemist chambers was at first intended as a place for high end (and perhaps high maintinance) modders to chat without fear of noobs crashing their debates, initially it was going to be a forum hidden from view to the common member. After much debate and the odd beer or two it was decided that the AC would be viewable in the hope that members would want gain access, which as your post suggests did work, hopefully even more so when Mtw2 comes out.

The only way to gain access is to make enough good contributions to the modding community and specifically this site and gain the Artifex rank. Now you may feel excluded for which i can only appologise, but there are many many sections of the TWC modding forums you can post in.

Saying that if you really have something to add to the coversation i will be happy to post it for you if you pm it to me. i hope that is enough to keep you here as your continued support of the modding community is important to us.

    Thankyou for your thoughts.

As a member of the Council of War, I will convey your concerns to the Council for discussion. In brief, the forum permissions you mention are not written in stone.

TWC is a dictatorship where the moderators are the evil men with the evil plan, etc... but seriously, this site has become so political correct that you cannot express anything anymore... And I am surely getting a warning for saying this, but hey! I'm danish, so I can and will say what I want, and draw whatever I want... Including muhammed having "fun" with his 9 year old wife Aisha...

What an amazing act of self sacrifice for the freedom of speech...
    meh,

on topic now, as previous members pointed out you can discuss the issue at similar threads, or ask someone to repost there for you, or follow our ritualistic game (that may look funny but has proven useful time and again) and climb the badge ladder...

Please PM any moderator if you want your contribuitions in the particular discussion added in the specific forum
    Take care
    Garb.
