    Default Yes!!!

Okay, my mother informed me that on the 15th of this month, that I can upgrade my computer with a new CASE, MoBo, VIDEO CARD, and POWER SUPPLY. I'm gonna get all the other parts from one of my computers. Okay, so my reasoning for this:

1)-Will I have to reinstall Windows?
    ----Reasoning: Using same Hard Drive
2)-Will this be enough to play Medieval 2?
    ----Reasoning: Demo is released
    3)-Is this worth the $270.96?
    ----Reasoning: It's freaking $270.96!
4)-How long will this tech be considered mid-low level?
----Reasoning: I want it to last.

    Salaam,

Regarding the video card, make sure it is compatible with today's games, including M2TW. It probably is, but I don't know.

Well, I just went to the EB games website and Total War website, and both don't have the specs yet, but I can say that judging by the newer games I looked at, one such as FEAR, the minimum was x600, so hopefully I'll be alright with the x1650.

Salaam and thanks for the quick reply,

You have worse than a 400 watt power supply? Man your computer IS old!

But I think that the parts will be alright, none of them look too old.

Yup, exactly why i got a socket 775. That's why I'm using my old CPU. Also a question, will I have to put some cooling device or spray on the power supply?

    1) Yes, back up and install. Start backing up now, since you might not even be able to start Windows because of the driver conflicts.
    2) Yes
    3) Yes
    4) I would say mid.

One thing, what CPU are you using? That mobo is socket 775, you sure you got a compatible CPU? If you CPU is old its probably not socket 775....

One last thing, a 7600GT would be a much better choice. The X16x0 series isn't that good.

I checked on CPUZ, and my CPU is socket 775, the exact reason why I'm getting that MoBo.

Just burn them to a CD or something. Or put it in another partition if you have one.

That's good. That's a good mobo by the way, it's compatible with Core 2 Duo.

Same price as the X1650. Just search for it on Newegg.

Okay, I'm going to get a new hard drive instead, and ripp all of the other parts, ie CD/DVD Drives from my old computer. Here is the HARD DRIVE . Will this be compatable with the MoBo in terms of connections the MoBo comes with?

That cool. So it is easily upgradably right?

Okay, thanks. Okay, I found THIS

I just want to say thank you sooo much Incinerate for all your help. You have helped me a lot, and I mean a lot.

Yes, the 7600GT is better than the X1650 I think, although Im not sure as I have never heard of the X1650, but the X1600 series is like the equivilent of the 6600GT.

    Yep, that 7600GT looks good.

I had high hopes for the X1650 series, but it also turned out to be a piece of crap. ATI just can't seem to get the mid range cards right.

Anything Intel makes that don't start with the word "Core 2 Duo" sucks.

Bah, avoid anything from Intel than isnt Core 2, especially a celeron. YOu could find an Athlon 3800 X2 for a little bit more, that would be far better.

    Processor looks good.

You might want to go with 2 sticks of 512mb though, so you can get a nice free boost in performance from dual channel.
