    Default Radeon X1900XTX Problems...

I've been having a strange problem with my new video card, as stated in the topic title. I downloaded the latest Catalyst Drivers (6.9), have the card set to PCI-E in the system bios, and have it hooked up to a digital LCD with a digital cord. On the Catalyst ATI OVERDRIVE (overclocker) utility however, I receive some strange information. While the normal VPU Clock speed is 650 for the card (has a range from 641-690 on the OC) the VPU clock in the program is stating the video card is running only at 500MHZ. It stays at this speed no matter what, so is the memory device broken, or is it reall running at only .5GHZ. As well with the memory clock speed it states it only at 591, when it really should be more than that, around seven hundred. I still have yet for both of these numbers to change as well. I have a 450W OCZ Modstream with 35A on a 12V rail if that helps. I also have a AMDx2 LIVE 4200+ processor with 2GB 4200 DDR2 ram.

Also in MIITW I have a strange issue. I run everything at highest, with everything maxed including resolution, and it ran perfectly fine for me, seemed like perfect FPS. But in fraps, it says I'm only getting 13 FPS? It looks almost perfect so... Is 13FPS normal for this vid. card and processor? Because when I ran it at all lowest settings I only got 21FPS average, very strange.

Is there not a single person out there who could answer the questions?

I have the same card and have the omega drivers, switched from ati. Mine also says 500mhz unclocked. Not sure why, but doesnt really bother me. You should be able to play fine, i do. -Leon

Is there a reason I'm only getting 13FPS? It's seems incredibly low for this card? I set all the options on the card to highest as well, should I set it to APPLICATION CONTROLLED?

might be an issue with the dual core, im not an expert on dual core problems in games, so you'll have to ask someone else

Dual core have nothing to do with it...

The reason it's reporting the slow clock speeds is because its the 2D clock, not the 3D clock. So don't worry.

And your memory is fine too, you just have to multiply the memory speed reported by 2. That's how you get the dual channel frequency and that's usually the frequency listed on the box.

You don't get 60-120 FPS like you need for a first person shooter in strategy games. Anywhere from 15-30 FPS is good, and with all settings maxed, 13 FPS is fine.
