    Well
I'm developing a big mod for fots. I'm not pretending to be very
historical accurate .. Just make it enought good to believe it. So i
    have questions.

    1) Suppose that someone wants to make an expanded fots map adding like
20 regions .. Which ones could be? (I know, this needs research)

    2) Which mercenaries could you find in japan during those years? I was
thinking in adding a yojimbo unit (with horses and arcs)

3)Is there any historical record of warrior monks? samurais using naginata or nodachi?

    1) I don't know how useful that is: http://faculty.unlv.edu/gbrown/Hist1...tsumap.jpe.jpg
    2) Just found this: http://forums.totalwar.com/archive/i...hp/t-7052.html
    3) Never heard of Boshin sohei. During the bakumatsu, nodachis were only used for religious ceremonies. Naginatas however were the prefered weapon of samurai women. The Joushitai from Aizu used these traditional weapons to attack sonno joi troops.

By the way, if your still looking for mercenaries: Wikipedia mentions xenophobic ronin.
Before the Shinsengumi became Shogunate policemen, they were a gang of ronin called the wolves of Miba.
