Heya,
I am in the process of making a whole load of weapons that are going to be used in an overhaul, but also just as a change to vanilla units, and as a weapon pack for other modders to use.
I have finished my first sword, and wanted to master the Warscape pipeline before I went any further, however I have hit some walls in getting my weapon in-game. I know there are a few tutorials around about similar topics, but I have not been able to find one about weapons in particular, and one that actually deals with each step. So far many tutorials skip large sections of the pipeline steps as there is assumed knowledge.
Anyway, here are the steps I have completed so far, in brief:
__Art & Creation__
-create 3d mesh
-create diff/norm/spec_L & spec_C/gloss maps
-create low poly LOD's
-apply directx shader - and ca_shader.fx to all
-export .cs2 file
__B.O.B__
-place .cs2 file into folder structure (raw data)
-run b.o.b and tick the .cs2 file created in the far left cell, and mid cell then run b.o.b-make sure it runs through without issue
-go into variant editor to apply weapon to weapon slot 02, save...
Now. From this point is where the trouble arises, so I have the .pack file that one uses in-game to run a mod, but when I drop it in the Rome2 folder and play with the .pack file enabled, the game just just errors on load.
So. I am assuming I need to edit some tables, or something... but I do not know which ones, and I do not know what I need to change.
Like I said, for importing new weapons to apply to vanilla units, I haven't seen any tuts for Rome 2, there is one for Shogun 2 but that appears to work differently.
If anyone could give me guidance, it would be greatly appreciated. Once I get the pipeline sortedt, I will also make a tutorial, step by step from an artist p.o.v so no-one has to go through these annoying show stoppers again.
