    Default Flags & secrets

I think avrione knows that each tipe of unit gets its one flag.
But did you notice the little flags?
Do you know what they mean?
Well I just cheked and it seams that they reprisent the units expirirence, for instance:
a unit with 1 gold chevorn gets 7 flags but a unit with 2 gold chevorns gets 8 flags.
So now you can ditermin the expirience of anamy units just by looking at their flags!
    How nifty.

In contrast to the efforts of tiny Israel to make contributions to the world so as to better mankind, one has to ask what have those who have strived to eliminate Israel from the face of the earth done other than to create hate and bloodshed.

Yes, didn't they have those little banners in Rome too? Well, they sure look nice this time. They aren't all exactly the same. I'm going to train my units just to get those flags!

Didn't they only have one flag, just so you can see where they are?

Really? I had no idea! Now, of course, I am going to have to inspect this personally

(after my math quiz and greek history midterm though I just may be skipping History Lecture today, ahem...)

I've never noticed these experience flags in past TW games, good discovery.

I just thought those flags were just a nice visual effect.
Didn't know there was actually a meaning behind them.

Plus the main unit banners actually show what kind of unit it is: square one for a general, triangle for missile, rectangle for infantry, pendant for cavalry.

I really like the banners in the demo, i love how they move in the wind now and they add a nice graphical touch with the vriety of different banners you see above units.

Yes, I've known about the little flag thing since RTW, also, and I'm not sure if this has been discovered, in the demo you could revert the camera controls back to the classic RTW way by going to game options and selecting "reset advisor" all of a sudden the camera controls like it did in RTW and not that new (to me) annoying way.

they were their in MTW as well as RTW...

the different types of flags for different types of units is new, but the experience flags have been around for the last couple of games

see all those little black flags... looks like a unit of gothic knights, or maybe HRE General Bodyguard

And here's the flags in STW.

MTW dinky little flags was a step backwards in this regard. I believe these are caled 'con'?

I'm more then a little surprise about the widespread ignorance about flags marking experience.

holy crap! that's why I felt weird while seeing MTW battle, I thought something had missed :tooth: now it's clear, can someone post those flags in RTW? because I never bother with flags as long as they meant my troops

and yeah, Kensai and Battlefield Ninja were rocks

Wow, it's been a while since I've seen a screenshot from STW, brings back so many memories of that game. Is it sad that there's a large part of my memory that's devoted to video games. "Ah, I remember back when Shogun: Total War came out and I conquered Japan with my samurai armies...(goes into explicit detail)...yeah, that was probably one of the best times of my life." Well, now that I've made myself sad...

I never knew about the flags and experience correlation. None of my friends who play the games did either. Quite an interesting feature; was it mentioned in a manual, tutorial or advisor anywhere in the previous 3 games? Hmmm...I'm amazed I never noticed it during the year I've probably spent playing these games total in my life.
