Fascinating. A friend and I were talking just a few weeks ago about what it would be like if we fought in a sort of International Brigade in the Ukraine.
By the way, our ModDB page is up. I will try to update it alongside the TWC page. I will keep this thread up as our "home base." Our ModDB page is here.
I will try to get out a few more unit updates soon as well.

Thinking about the gameplay for this mod,and not knowing if this is at all possible, I wonder if it could start with the Army of Africa safely in Morocco, and some republican troops and militias around most cities, as well as a reasonable Republican naval strength. After a few turns, rebellions should break out in all regions, spawning Nationalist troops and militias, and with more chance of these succeeding in the SW and NW. This would pretty much reflect the historical outbreak of the Civil War.
Important strategies for the Repblican side would be to suppress these rebellions and try to prevent the transport of the AoA to the mainland, and for the Nationalists, to capture as many regions as possible early, transport the AoA and move on Madrid. With both sides reasonably balanced at the outset, this could lead to some really interesting campaigns....
We're planning on having the game start when the Army of Africa lands in Sevilla. In addition, there will be another concentration of Nationalists around Navarre and that general area under General Mola to represent the Carlist and Falangist militias raised there. There might also be another group of Falangists and generic militia in Galicia and other parts of Spain. The Republicans will control most of the country with strong concentrations of militia and professional soldiers in Madrid and another large group of generic and Anarchist militias in Catalonia.
Although I do like the suggestion for spawning rebellions in the Republic. Perhaps we can somehow figure out a way to give many Republican towns low public order for the upper-class, but this would also have to mean that the rebelling armies would have to spawn as Nationalists and not generic rebels.

the Panzer I with its lousy armament of 2 mgs is no match for the T-26 with a 45mm gun
I wonder how balance is achieved.
HATE SPEECH ISN'T REAL
Well, the Panzer will probably be cheaper than the T-26 tank and I hope we can also make it quicker and more effective against infantry. The Nationalists will also get T-26 tanks (as many were captured and reused), but perhaps in more limited supply. In general, the Nationalists will tend to have better-trained troops than the Republicans at the price of being more expensive, but the Republicans will get special units like guerrillas to be used by a creative commander to win. The T-26 tanks will also help this balance by giving the Republicans a superior unit that is also available in larger quantity.

My family has a big history with the spanish civil war so I am really interested in this mod. I guess the agents stuff of the Peninsular campaign can also be used (KGB agents and fascists agents).
It's a fascinating but dreadful period of history, that set brother against brother. Would you care to expand? I ask as a member of the International Brigade Memorial Trust -

Both are considered light infantry tanks, in gameplay terms the Panzer 1 would actually be more effective based on my experiences with TGW mod. The T 26 can fire a decent sized shell every few seconds but the Panzer 1 can lay down very heavy fire for longer periods of time most likely killing more men than the single round being fired from the T26.
It's been awhile, so here's a few more shots for you.

That is the vanilla flag of Spain from the Kingdom prior to the Republic. We are using that for the time being and will be fixed.

In case you haven't checked yet, I believe the Spanish republican and nationalist flags are included in the TGW flags folder. VlitmaRatio, our flagmaker, was very comprehensive.
Wow... the feared regulares and condor legion...
You all should look into incorporating the battles of Jarama, Gaudalajara, and Corunna Road into custom maps eventually.
I can tell that this unprecedented mod will be wicked fun. I hope that it will attract interest to this often forgotten, but still significant, conflict!
Heres the T-26, there are so many varients of this tank that im not sure if ive added all the correct features given the version you would like to use. For example the blueprints show a hand rail around the turret yet all of the reference photos of actual tanks dont have the rail. Also the features on top of the turrent vary greatly so i added a few that looked interesting.

Let me know what corrections you'd like to have done. Also i plan on tighening the model up a bit but its basically finished at this point.
Wow.
I am really looking forward to this!
