I would suggest also putting all your pictures you find at one time into a single post. It might make the mods mad if you keep multi-posting.

Currently I'm searching for the use of cavalry on both sides of the conflict and pictures (preferably colored) of uniforms. Sending some these my way would be useful if you can find any. You can PM them to me Frank.

Thanks for the mod, but I need to mark one fail that I saw: the Nationalist's flag. There where 2 flags:
    This, between 1936 and 1938: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...6-1938.svg.png
And this, between 1938 till the end of the Civil War (and then was used by the Franco's dictatorship): https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...945%29.svg.png

I don't want to start a political discussion, but I need to clarify that the Nationalist faction, at the start of the war and until the mid of the war too, they were republicans but no socialists as his enemies. Then they joined to the General Francisco Franco's personal interests (false fascism "National-Catholicism", not "National-Syndicalism" of José Antonio Primo de Rivera, founder of "Falange Española", the party that Franco appropriated later).

So, thanks for reading, and also forgive me for my bad English, bad redaction or grammatical mistakes. I'm only a 17 years old Spanish from Salamanca

Thank you for the suggestions. I didn't know that the "Eagle Flag" wasn't used for the entire war, but it's also the most iconic and the one associated most with Franco's regime and his side in the Civil War outside of Spain. It's also the one that we have available and already completed. I've also heard that the right-wing side of the Civil War used a flag that had the red-gold-red bands but no icon at all. We could possibly use that one from the Spanish Republican flag in ETW.

And if the Nationalist Party itself wasn't Francoist until the middle of the war, then what do you suggest we call Franco's Spain in the mod if Nationalist Spain is somewhat invalid?

Sounds good - guess the rebellions would be rather unpredictable, and prone to crashing the whole lot... The Republic depended initially on the forces who stayed loyal - the Navy, in particular "removed" Nationalist officers, and a substantial proportion remained with the Republic.

The arrival of Russian aid was just in time to help with the defence of Madrid - the arrival of the IBs was a huge morale boost to the militias defending - would be good to recreate that effect somehow.

    Good start
But i see that you gave the Nationals uniformly Stahlhelms and the Rebublicans Tommy helmets, nothing could be farther from history.
Both sides had a very limited quantity of helmets of various kinds (it was common practice to capture helmets) and they were never enough, most combatants weared caps or berets. And the Tommies weren't used at all.
Here is an article about helmets in the spanish civil war: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...?f=32&t=157033

Mayer, thank you for all the pictures. These will help me out greatly.

Those aren't Tommies, but instead Adrians or this sort "bowl" helmet (your Czech M30) the Republicans also used. Both sides shared these sorts of helmets, but I gave the Republicans these Adrians and M30s and the Fascists Stalhelms was so the player doesn't get mixed up between his forces and the enemy's in the middle of battle. These is also, as the poster in the link provided describes, the association with the low back of the Stahlhelm-like Spanish helmets with helmets worn by the Germans, giving them the Fascist distinction. On the other hand, there is a famous photo of a Republican soldier on parade wearing a stalhelm carrying a Communist flag on his back.

I simply made the choices I did in style to avoid confusion. The Italian CTV also came in wearing both Adrians and a later model round helmet that they would continue to use into World War II. I decided to use the "bowl" helmet again for this in order to make the Republicans more distinct with their own Adrian helmet.

In any case the article was a good and interesting read.

As a final note, I wanted to reserve the helmets for mostly professional units to make them distinct from the militia. Militia-type units will still be recognized wearing a series of different caps. The International Brigades might wear a variety of different headgear including helmets and caps.

Ah, in the bottom picture it looked a bit like the republican infantry had a Brodie

The Thälmann Battalion ! These are german communists who brought their distinctive discipline and offensive spirit to the International Brigades
"...the finest people in some ways I have ever met. In a way they have lost everything, have been through enough to break most people, and remain strong and cheerful and humorous. If anything is revolutionary it is these comrades." - John Cornford
"They set an early example of what shock troops could be like. They tried to do the impossible, and paid for it. And during the early days in Aragon, in the futile fighting around Huesca, at Tardienta, the Germans, in countless bayonet charges against fortified positions, took their objectives, buried their dead, and waited with a caged restlessness for the next day's orders." - Robert G. Colodny

And the helmet they wear isn't the german M35 but the spanish M26

It's a civil war, confusion is a feature
I much prefer if both side have various units with their own kind of helmets & caps.
There are only 2 sides, so they have to offer some diversity

Good idea, i would also add that early soldiers had no helmets. Even Franco's professionals from Africa had none. (Keep in mind that Spain did not participate in WW1)

I'm really hopeful that this project is gaining some real momentum now!

Just to clarify, the Army of Africa consisted of the Spanish Legion, professional soldiers and the mercenary regulares.

It would be amusing to feature "General" O'Duffy's Blueshirts - a group of 600 Irish fascist volunteers who only saw action once, when they were fired on by their own side....

Some impressive work EmperorBatman999 + rep

Sorry I havent responded before but ive been going through some stuff in my personal life. However Id like to work on a tank for you as im itching to start something new, like a more modern tank model. If you could supply some reference materal for the T-26 and Panzer 1 especially blueprints i can start working on them. I cant guarentee that theyll be done in short amount of time but as work on TGW has kind of bottlenecked id like to start a side project of sorts with your mod
