Disable the flags/banners & arrow markers
I got a very noticable boost in performance after disabling the unit flags/banners and the arrow markers. The big flags they have blow in the wind alot which actually contributes to the CPU's workload. Flags moving = animation and the CPU handles animation. This may only be the case for lower end CPu's like mine, but my game runs much better.
Not only does it improve performance, but it looks much better, especially for screenshots. And just general gameplay. Those big ugly poles and flags can get in the way of the camera.

In the medieval.preference file where is the flag/banner option? I can see the arrow marker option...

Under [Video] near the bottom of the file.
sabotage_movies = 1
shader = 2
show_banners = 0
show_package_litter = 0
skip_mip_levels = 0
For arrow markers
campaign_num_time_play = 0
chat_msg_duration = 10000
disable_arrow_markers = 1
disable_events = 0
english = 0
event_cutscenes = 1

Re: Disable the flags/banners & arrow markers
I always played RTW without arrow markers.
And I will probably turn those two off in M2TW.
Thanks for telling.

Re: Disable the flags/banners & arrow markers
Am I the only one that actually likes the new green arrow markers? They seem less noticeable...
