I Need Help

I've downloaded chivalry mod and the .043 patch and the mod looks great. But after i choose a faction to play in either campaign or battle and then click on start, the game instantly closes. If anyone could please help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install in the right order?

- Rome TW (patched to 1.5)
- Chivalry 0.34
- Chivalry 0.44 patch
- 0.44 hotfixes (optional)

thanks for the help, but since im of a different generation of most of you, i have not the slightest clue what i have to look through or change. But, either way, i appreciate that people are willing to help.

Try a complete uninstall and re-install of Rome TW, then patch it up to version 1.5. Afterwards install in the following order to this new "...\Activision\Rome Total War"-folder:
- Chivalry 0.34,
- Soundpack 0.34,
- Chivalry patch 0.44
- the 044a hotfix

Please do always install to the Rome-folder.

well, if you dont have a lot of computer know-how, and have never uninstalled and reinstalled RTW before, I wouldnt suggest doing that, because the first time it might cause problems that would have to be solved by going in the registery (where one must be very carefull not to change anything except what you must). If you do try to reinstall and ecounter problems then I suggest you look for help at the totalwar.com community section, where there are step by step instructions....and if you have trouble finding that, then just ask and ill give you a link.

So, before trying a complete reinstall, start up you RTW and go to options, there, in the top righthand corner it should say 1.5. If it says 1.3, you must go to totalwar.com and find the patch 1.5 for RTW. If it says 1.2 or lower, you must first install the 1.3 patch and then the 1.5 patch.

If it is allready 1.5, then you should install the chivalry build .34. Make sure it is installed in you RTW directory, if you did not change it when installing RTW, it should be C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\. Next install the other patches in the order that Grand Master of the Order gave them above. Some of them may not be installer files, but zipped files, in which case you will have to have the unzipper program required. Next unzipp the file you download, that will give you another zipped file and instructions on where to place it. Following the instructions, place it where it is indicated (usually will be C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\) and then rightclick on it and choose unzip here.

If the above does not work, then I am not sure what might be wrong and if you are patient, you may just want to wait for our upcomming release which will consist of just one thing that you need to install, but while you are waiting, make sure you patch RTW to 1.5.

Thanks again to the grandmaster of the order, da vinci, and drak10687 for putting up with me and the people of my generation. we were not raised with computers so some of us dont have much know how but we do realize a good strategy game. This is an excellent mod and i am a fan of the numerous provinces (especially in scandinavia).

Thanks for the kind words.

Whenever you will have problems with the Chiv mod, call us for help, we will always try to give special help for members of your generation, who show that kind of well education in the sense of "social positive (forum) behaviour".

P.S. Btw., i'm myself not born with a computer, born in 1966 :tooth:
