old song my chap... it has been answered before... it doesn't and it is quite 'hoffnungslos' to believe it would... if I remeber well one of our members took it right into the heart by saying - 'it is pain in the *** to script for duo' so sorry, but who cares, I have duo too, and I am not worried one core of my twos will take care of M2TW without any probs... so don't worry!
cheers
Like I said, I think I misunderstood you, but I don't know how to read this. "it doesn't" - I thought this meant that the game doesn't support core 2. And then you said one of your twos will take care of M2TW...Originally Posted by Giurza

Giurza, your last post was a complete mess. Are you saying you can play with Core 2 duo's if you disable one of them? I remember I had to do that with my HT P4 to be able to play SS2...

hmmm what do you mean? I have Core 2 and I don't need to disable anything...Originally Posted by Beiss
I have a 1.83 Merom and it plays alright (I wouldn't say flawlessly but it's almost definitely using two cores, I don't see how I oculd get reasonable framerates without it.
And of course the Core 2 Duo will run fine.
I'm a Core 2 Duo user and i can assure you the demo runs absolutely great. So, yeah, the game will run fine with it.
actually you are not... I am totaly new to Core dual world myself... and by saying that M2TW will not support dual core I mean that scripting a game to support dual core is realy hard... as I understand you have to tell computer which core to use for which process in the game... and I guess I meant that one of my cores will take care of the game... but I might be wrong... maybe core 2 (which is better than simple dual core) is already doing that without needing a complex scripting...
as I said I am total newbe in this
You can still get a performance boost with core 2 though even if the game isnt coded for it.
Simply make it so that all the back ground programs like svchost, explorerexe, all the stuff you see when you press ctrl alt del... get them to run on the first core and set mtw2 to run on the 2nd core on its own....
that way one of the processors is dedicated to running mtw2 and its not trying to share power between it and a dozen other programs.
Argh, even though that isn't a bad idea I don't seem to be able to do it because of Kaspersky (or something that is blockign me, even though I'm an administrator)Originally Posted by Knight_Yellow
Actually, I just did my own observation, and even thought MTW2 runs fine and all noticed this:
AFter another run I had it spike to using 50%, but htis is far below what it shoudl be utilizing of my processor.![]()

I'm thinking the original poster was wondering if MTW2 supported dual-core processing, using both processors to full extend to improve performance.
It'd be nice if it were coded for dual-core performance, but I'm sure that's a pain in the ass.
No, I think he was just asking if the game works on a Core 2 Duo processor, since it's not working on older AMD processors.Originally Posted by Syntax Error
And the awnser is YES, defenately.
To avoid confusions:
"Core 2 Duo" is just the name for a line of intel chips, like "Celeron", "pentium III" and "pentium 4".
It happens to be Dual core, but so do more processors.
Judging by your own graph your second core WAS doing something at a workload of about 25%.Originally Posted by DavidtheDuke
With your first core at 100% it means you did benefit from having two cores.
But I wouldn't worry about your CPU load too much.
You should see the second core as a nice bonus.
I agree, I don't expect them to go out of their way for still a minority audience, but at least have it to where my second core does something besides stares :/
I agree Erik, I know it was doing something. It's just it wasn't doing enough. I'm nto saying MTW2 doesn't run okay, but sometimes I get down to 20 FPS on a 7900GTX. I don't think the video card is my bottleneck.
That it's really hard to do is kind of a poor excuse, IMO. I can think of two games off the top of my head that fully support dual core and are made by companies with much less resources than CA has. Granted, this is me nitpicking. The demo runs alright for me, but still...

well at least having two processors still helps. I believe if one is runnin M2TW, the second one will take on all the other tasks, so you have one dedicated processor to the game

I was skimming dell earlier looking at what my ideal custom pc from them would cost... £2600 roughly...
(not that im going to use dell at all).
thats a fair bit lower than it was 4 months ago... £5000 was my average result at the end of the day.
Since im buying a new comp early december im not bothering with like quad sli 7950's... just a single decent card 7900 ish.... and when dx10 cards come out in 07 ill be getting a good one of them.
It's great if the other one wants to do other tasks, but I want it to work on MTW2. I'll shut off all my other apps if it makes the second processor happy, but I want it for MTW2. I guess it's tough if i can't have that though. Guess we'll see on the retail version what's up.
