So who else besides me won't be able to play this game without a serious computer upgrade? Who here is willing or able to go through with that upgrade?

I really want to, but I'm not sure my parents would let me

uh, I had a thread in the basement.....don't remember exactly right now, but I have 256 mb ram, and integrated graphics card. Yeah.

I can't play it yet. CPU is old and doesen't support SSE2.

About a month ago I would have had a hard time playing it, but, I suspected M2TW would have high performance requirements, so, I invested in a gig of RAM and a new video card. I can now play at all "high" settings. In practical terms, it cost me about $250 US Dollars to upgrade, but, I also spent another $800 on a new monitor. So, in short, I was one of you sorry lots, but, thanks to me new Dell credit line, I'm not!

I need to upgrade my comp anyways so i'm willing to go though with a huge upgrade. I'll finally be able to play Oblivion. Huzzah!

Well Bulgaroctonus, there are ways of upgrading your cpu...have you tried looking for used parts on the nett? I belive you can get good price for it like that....

I dont even know what SSE2 is, that cant be a good sign.

Im not sure if it will be able to play ME2TW but if it does, itll be on the lowest settings, Im waiting for the demo to see what happens. Hopefully Ill be updating the computer when windows Vista comes out, so untill then it might be AOE3 and Xbox360 instead of Total War

SSE2 has to do with the way your CPU processes info.

Some older cpu's don't have SSE2, they will not work with M2TW, newer ones do.

If you have either a P4 or A64 even if its old, it should work.

I would definitely need a new rig.

I have an emachine T2692 (celeron 2.6 ghz) 512 mg ram, PCI (not PCI-E) fx5200 graphix card.

But for about a grand on cyberpowerpc.com I can get a pretty good rig... 1+gig of PC800 ram, a dual core 3.8+ ghz processor, and a decent video card (PCI-E Nvidea 7300 or higher... maybe even a 7950GT if I configure right...).

But 1k essentially to play this game.... I've been holding out for years on spending real cash on a system...

I have been weeping at night becuase I need more ram, what ever that is. So I can not play this great game. I dont really know how to upgrade my comp because I dont know anything about computers. So Im just screwed. And bulgaroctunus like you my parents wouldnt let me upgrade.

I got my compo so cheap I thought it was stolen.

It would have cost me at least another 30% of the price to get the same stuff in any store...

As I have a socket A athlon processor I would have to build a whole new computer to play it as my CPU is not SSE2.

This means I would need a new motherboard/RAM/CPU/AGP card and powersupply.
