Google snaps up YouTube for $1.65Billion

Google Inc. snapped up YouTube Inc. for $1.65 billion Monday in deal that catapults the Internet search leader to a leading role in the online video revolution.

The price makes YouTube, a still-unprofitable startup, by far the most expensive purchase made by Google during its eight-year history.

YouTube will continue to retain its brand, as well as all 67 employees, including co-founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen.

Google are just buying up any company they can get their hands on are they... I can't really see any impact this has on us, since (hopefully) the service will still remain free.

They might have free reign over a copy of everyone's hard drive and emails on their servers one day, but bankers will be the ones owning us. They already own soooo many people.

But on the bright side, at least they still can't get to our transcendental souls! Probably because they haven't found a way to collect on an immaterial object that would be the collateral for a loan.

I think Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks said it best. "Only a 'moron' would buy YouTube" Now the lawsuits for copyright infrogments can begin now that people can actually sue somebody now.

I can see why they would be happy. Many of those internet companies have become millionaires because of the stock market, not because of hard work or truely innovative ideas. Bad luck with the lawsuits girls.
