Default SS6.4 CTD during AI turn

Hi there, I have encountered CTD playing SS6.4.

    Below is the error log:

    14:08:50.789 [system.rpt] [always] CPU: SSE2
14:08:50.790 [system.rpt] [always] ==== system log start, build date: Feb 25 2008 version development ===
    14:08:50.793 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_0.pack
    14:08:50.794 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_1.pack
    14:08:50.795 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_2.pack
    14:08:50.796 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_3.pack
    14:08:50.796 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_4.pack
    14:08:50.797 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/localized.pack
14:10:18.210 [system.rpt] [error] Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.

I won't post information about my system because I've been playing SS6.4 for quite a long time and so far the game has run fine. I had experienced a few CTDs in the past upon entering battle with HRE / Sicily, but got past the issue using the auto_win cheats (therefore automatically resolving battle rather than entering the battle myself).

But this time, when I end the turn, when the AI reaches Portugal, CTD occurs. I tried using cheat to destroy Portugal, only to find that the same problem will occur when the AI turn reaches next the faction which is England.

I tried installing RBAI and Settlement Tweaks, but to no avail.

I have attached the savefile if anyone wants to test it out. Load the game, just end the turn and HRE will attack your army, just retreat, and the AI will progress onto Portugal - CTD occurs here for me.

    Appreciate your help!

To add: I tried removing HRE faction by cheat (surrender_regions HRE) and it was fine. So I'm guessing it's got to do something with HRE.
