Sometimes my Generals have zero command. they do very well on the battle field gaining a lot of experience but they don't gain command stars. while other factions have generals with total command (full stars). Any help??

The AI is given extreme command boost traits, one in particular is "cohesive unit", which it seems like every AI general gets. I had a 3 or 4 star general married away by Poland, and he was immediately either 8 or 10 star for them.

The thing that I don't get is why when I adopt what looks like a 2 star general, the next turn he has no stars.

Sounds like you are playing with BGR turned on. BGR specifically handicaps the player(such as giving bad traits to player and good ones for AI) to let the god awful AI have a chance against you. I would recommend you either: Learn how BRG works, Use BGR VII which is a lot easier go get used to, just disable it completely.

The answer to this thread is in the question. "they do very well on the battlefield". You are already winning so why do want it made easier by adding more bonuses?
