When I 1st got the demo I couldn't run all low settings without lagging. So I raised my AGP Aperture size from 128MB to 256Mb and im running all high now.
So for all those lagging or getting choppy gameplay, raise you aperture size!

In the BIOS.
To my knowledge the AGP aperture is how much of your system ram is used as a swap for the video card. If you set it to 256 megs, then that means 256 megs of your RAM is no longer usable for other things. In MTW2 it may speed things up, but in a game like BF2 that requires lots of ram this will slow things down greatly as it takes away from the total amount of available RAM. I heard the rule of thumb is a 128meg aperture for 1 gig of ram, 256 for 2 gigs.
128 mb seems to be best for me, with X800XL and 1024mb RAM. When set to 265, fps drops a bit.

The aperture size sets the MAXIMUM amount of system RAM that CAN be used as virtual video RAM.
But the memory isn't actually reserved until the video card runs out of RAM.
Until this happens all the system RAM remains available for general purpose use.
The only reason to not set the aperture size to it's biggest value is because larger values cause more overhead so it slows things down a little bit.
128MB is usually the most optimum size according to this link:

@SnArF|D: how much memory does your video card have?
edit: Oh, I just saw your sig says 256MB.
That's interesting because this means everybody with 256MB or less should set aperture to 256MB (or more?) because the more video RAM you have, the less aperture size you need.

It has 256MB. Didn't drop much though, maybe 2-3 fps. May be wrong, but it surely didn't get any better.Originally Posted by Erik

This is nothing to do with MTW2, moved to the basement...
Then this might be the cause for my fps drop after altering it...damn, I just thought it told about the sitze of my graphics card...![]()

AGP is a type of Video Card the other one Haveing a PCI SLot.
WHat there taking about is how to increase you Video Card's Memory or Performace by make Some part of your RAm think that its in the Video Card and hence used by the Video Card.
and this process is called AGp Aperture Size.

The reason your games are running slow is because your still using AGP. The size of your video cards frame buffer is the least important determing factor of your video cards performance. If you have 256 mb of ram on your card you will be fine. I dont think M2 can create textures larger than that card can handle. You judge the performance of a video card by looking at its core clock speed, memory clock speed, and it memory interface. Just get a pci-express card with a 256 mb of ram and decent speeds. The Nvidia 7900 series is really cheap right now and offers great performance for your buck.
Now correct me if I am wrong, but I had a Nvidia FX 5200 256MB card and in the bios it was already as high as it could go. Can I assume that some cards are some manufacturers do not have these cards maxed out in the system.
