    Besides the lod problem, i thought the unit stutter is another manual problem on rome 2

    fact on large battle (40vs40),and randomly on siege battle

    after the game released to now,this problem is still no solved

    That second link is exactly why I started disliking the game more and more. I'm pretty sure, for myself at least, it started at patch 7, maybe it was 6 I'm not exactly sure at this point. I play on an ssd, 3770k @4.5 vapor-x 7970 16 of 1866 and it stutters to ish. I tried turning all of my settings to low, and guess what....it still did the same exact thing.

    That was one of the major straws that broke the camels back. It's been all downhill, downgrading, unbalanced patching, and patch notes that don't in any way represent the actual games state since then.... I really hope that CA gets why they have frustrated people, so who knows, they probaby don't care.

    This graphic pop-up is nothing new to me. I've seen it many times in previous patches.

    thanks for reposting. You may tell him what I told them before, they just need to run this game on high preset in their benchmark. If they do not see the zombie faces there I am lost. Maybe there is a drive for certain systems but from my feedback I got it is not limitied to Nvidia nor AMD GPUs nor specific to a model of a card.

    The issue was reintroduced by patch 4 I recorded a youtube about it. You need to watch this in fullHD fullscreen to have a better detailed view on those minor things.
    Have a look on the framed faces from 0:23 to 0:26 when the texture pop-in (lod change) happens.

    I hope its not only the faces they fix according to that previous post but all the LoD.
    Game previews had high LoD range so it should be definitly possible to implement a slider.

    The worst of all is that the LOD textures and models are completely different from the high res models, which they replace.
    I'm sure now, its not ignorance, laziness or technical difficulties, they just don't care. The fact, that after 7 months they see in the studio those ridiculous bugs and don't fix them proves my point. We are the idiots, hoping for the best.

    I may be speaking out of my ass, but isnt tons of problems like this "reported" and "flagged" for months and still nothing? I hope they wont say the new LoD is a gameplay design choice in the near future


    Also it is almost comical that we have to report it to them, dont they at least alpha-test the game, do they at least have people playing the game from time to time? It is so apparent that only a blind would not see it! This was the case for the zombie faces when they released, this was the case for animation cards in the battle screen when they released, this is still the case for unit spotlight in night battles, now this...

    A beta patch is one thing, but the alpha stage should have permanently erased this kind of glaring issues.


    From where I'm standing, it seems like every logical development step is one step back with CA : alpha is engine development stage, beta stage is alpha, released state is beta, patches are full of just released problems

    Using LOD's isn't a bad idea...RTW1 used them for quite a few buildings and models. The problem is, the textures and models themselves, as shown in the OP's video, are wrong. In the video, the second example shown of a building losing it's doors and windows when you scroll in and out is caused by an low definition texture that doesn't even match the building. One should never even notice this if the texture was properly made for the building. In another case, I saw a whole building sink into the ground and lose its first floor! That means the low definition model itself is bad, since it no longer matches the building it's supposed to represent.

    It just looks like this was implemented rather 'sloppily' in some cases to me.

    R2:TW had problems with unit LoD at the beginning too but they kind of solved most of it now (at least on very high detail, not lower). Before they reduced polygones but now they went back to draw them in 2D which is the much better solution.
    I agree with having propper LoD but even with propper LoD on units at the moment I play it on extreme instead of very high and it gets rid of most unit LoD. As a quality fanatic I want the same freedom of choice for all other kind of LoD in the game.

    I posted this thought before, go look at the coastlines with the camera and watch how bad the LOD issue is. This is worse than that Road Rash game I had for Sega as a kid. They can't possibly leave this as is, it's laughable; well it is CA though mind you.

    This isn't the first time. They've downgraded the graphics once before that I know of. It's sad isn't it?
