    Just as their marketing techniques operates in regard to everything else. Do you remember CA representatives saying they were (maybe, perhaps, who knows?) reworking the political system and the civil war mechanics? And what happened since then? Nothing. Only silence and forgetfulness. Seriously man, I have loved this series just as much as you do, but truth be told, CA can't be taken as reliable or trustworthy developers anymore. It is not like this is the first time they've been acting like this. In fact, what you have described is what has been going on since always.

    Read some posts on the the official forum and you will soon realize to what kind of demented 11 year old public CA has been aiming at. Quite frankly, I have serious doubts about the future course of this franchise. They probably believe in their hearts their arrogance and incompetence, along with all the marketing cynicism and lack of commitment with the community, will go unpunished. Time will tell, and I wish them luck.

    I am still hanging on here to see how Rome 2 saga is going to end. If it ends badly, as I assume it will, then I believe it's probably time to move on. There are other franchises out there making wonderful games, working hard to cater to a loyal fanbase, and doing things with a lot more transparency and commitment than CA's modus operandi.

    I haven't played it yet but as in every patch I always deleted the preference file and let it generate new one. So I'm very surprise the game detected all settings on Ultra. Now this may not be strange on the outset but something must go wrong somewhere with auto detect setting since my rig is using i3-2100 and GT520 1GB DDR3 which is not even a gaming GPU.

    This was the same auto detect setting when the game was released back in September.

    I did try the benchmark after turning down the settings to Medium except unit numbers on Ultra and the benchmark gives me 15 FPS average.

    CA spent a month dicking around with this patch so they could break the LODS. Bravo! seriously, who gave the go for this patch, a simpleton perhaps? Go up and down a coast line one time in a siege, it literally moves around like a snake changing profiles like a time lapse between ice ages , this crap is broken right now.

    wow, when I thought it was perhaps getting better they go and do that lol. this game is never ever ever getting fixed lol

    Reading this thread, the siege AI test on patch 10, also my own ones - viewing this all cumulative I have to agree.

    I frankly said it to Mitch in another thread and I am willing to repeat it here partly. This game is done. It is broken and it will remain broken, if not anything unexpected will happen in Horsham.

    And please save me of krisslanzas postings if he is only defending it all again. He can write actually good stuff too, when he is not doing it (I mean not defending the game and spending time into what CA really could think / what they intended, at all cost). I repped him in advance if he could just please stop defending all negativity around TWC that can be actually sourced.

    For god's sake... if patch 12 is not fixing this game - and I will be pleased if they manage to fix all aspects they damaged since patch 3 and further patches it wrote them dozen times! - I will uninstall it and stop all further reports. Fingers crossed.

    undocumented fix in patch 10 beta:

    by the way they managed to fix the broken forn texture in the benchmark. Not even mentioned it in the release note, unlike the kneeling death.

    As well, the Carthage big scene still has floating buildings all over the place. The Petra siege scene is bugged; every time you are defending against the AI they line up facing the wrong direction. Come on man, 7 months into this game and CA's main siege scene looks like a rushed mod. This just screams incompetence. They have poor leadership in that company, there is a disconnect somewhere. God knows we get asinine rubbish like bee/scorpion projectiles, what is CA doing, seems like a mess?

    The good news(?) about this new patch is that it doesn't destroy my mods - which are mostly visual since I play vanilla. Almost all of them survived. But here's what I noticed in a test battle last night http://www.mediafire.com/view/3n274u...3-11_00003.jpg. The units are shattered but they're not running away! They're just standing there, like statues.

    Either CA cut things out of patch 10 and moved them into next one or they have shifted most of the manpower to other projects. There should been much longer bug and crash-fix list.

    Some interesting questions here:

    1.I would not speak of a lack of communication. CA communicates with us everyday if we consider acts, words, promos and patch notes as form of communications. There's an image of a message but at last there's a concrete lack of discussion

    CA does not discuss what they do and what we suggest. I lead a thread on official CA for some months about sieges, more than 10000 visitors and some interesting contributors but not a single word by CA. This is only an example to explain this lack of discussion:

    -they read and post automatic replies
    -they release Patches with marvellous patch notes I read everytime as a Majestic fantasy novel (even if patch 9 was really good)

    CA should search almost to discuss with players

    HOW could they do it?

    2. Change strategy: as Al Qamar wrote, why not "fight bug with mods"?

    CA can release subpatch in form of mods. This means they can discuss with us what in this game is really heavily ed over every personal opinion and I say once again: SIEGE AI is broken. This is not an opinion and I'm still waiting defenders posting proof of their excellent sieges

    3. Explain difficulties and speak frankly: at last we're not in a parliament and we're not politicians, I assume we, us and CA, are a better community so why not try new strategies?

    I see in twc and official Ca forum the best intentions to give personal efforts, offer ideas and give positive suggestions but without the will to discuss everything in a sort of lateral-thought approach I see in the future only patch-marketing.

    Well unfortunately there is nothing substantial in this "patch". No siege ai fix, no path finding, no campaign improvements no nothing. And supposedly they have been working on it for quite a while now. This only means one thing :more dlc is coming soon. That has been the drill since release, minor patch that's mostly useless, some free eye candy that was already made pre release and soon after dlc. I am seriously getting tired of this charade. No way I am buying the next total War title before I see some proper community reviews. Enough is enough.

    This was happening before. That's why I always set the time to 20' when the enemy attacks. In order to avoid(?) this mess.

    Not sure if this happened to me before, but this was the first time I saw the AI did this when I first played the beta patch. I think the best thing avoiding this mess is to just quit the game and wait (again) for the final patch. Or better yet, not play the game at all.

    Yep, just to confirm sieges are still busted, and I am sick and tired of having to go over old ground with CA on needing g to fix this!

    I really do not know what is you g on there at Horsham HQ but some serious consideration on letting the consumer know if this can be fixed or not?

    Also still awaiting of wangrins report on the mod summit which may enlighten us all on the situation of modding! But so far all I have seen is a free meal ticket for some members of TWC to go to Horsham and listen to CA's "PR" message is just not good enough in my opinion.

    I haven´t downloaded patch 10 beta, yet, and as it seems I will definitely wait with it.
    I actually have already given up hope of a real fix for R2. I play it once in a while, having around 30 mods, like total overhaul, ui mods, unit_card mods and all kinds of stuff.
    Also the patch 10 notes are not that overwhelming anyway, so no real disappoinment for me
    I have moved on I guess...

    Technically, this isn't the official patch 10 yet. It's only a beta, so it's focused on the fixes/tweaks to make sure they work right.
    Alternatively, the Carthagian units will come in a "10.1" style patch, like the elephant update before.

    Well Kriss, technically you are right. As a personal challenge I'll seriously donate you 10 € via Paypal if the damage this patch 10 beta is doing to the game (e.g. reverting earlier performance increases on settings lower than extreme, LOD issues) will be fixed by the final version of patch 10. This I promise you with my word of honour. I highly doubt from the things I've seen in the past.

    Nigel I think you overdraw it a bit. I don't think and agree that the siege engine is running worse than ever. I more think it is running same worse as ever with small improvements in earlier patches. Still Dramabelli and others are right there is no significant improvement if you loved to play sieges as a defender vs AI.

    on the other hand this is what you would hear meanwhile over at CA forums
