Royal family being overun by Girls!

Hey guys,


So I went back to my roots playing as Scotland, having had my fill of Byzantines and I'm having a real problem with the lady folk unable to birth some lads to carry on my legacy. The problem became, well ... most problematic when my finest general and her lass blessed the empire with 4 girls between them, not to mention his three brothers that also can't seem to produce more than one lad.


I went as far as to reload countless times to get different outcomes, all with varying degrees of success, but aside from that, is there any way to directly influence gender through some manipulation or perhaps a Trait or Ancillary ?


At this rate I'll be marching my mothers and daughters into the front line.

The computer just does a coin toss for a boy or girl baby.
I dont know of any way to alter the odds.

Marry the girls off to some competent generals, and lo - the line continues. Desiring a purely male hereditary line is sooo... backwards.

Jokes aside, I can't see either a full line of boys or girls being particularly useful, but a nice mix might be nice. At least if I had more lads it would allow for a smoother, more efficient expansion.

This would be a problem if you were concerned with keeping the "of Scottish blood" royal trait and the original royal surname passed down to posterity. The immediate alternative is to allow the game to marry off all those girls to various male suitors (who instantly become your generals). You just have to wait for those messages of viable suitors to filter in.

The game also doesn't want a faction to expand too quickly with too many family members if your empire isn't large enough or the amount of territories you have isn't proportionate to the larger amount of generals you have on the campaign map.

Why not? I did this in all my M2 games after I realized just how much the traits you get from normal family members who come of age are better over that random, most of the time bland trait assortment you get on the adopted ones. As a plus you get to keep the original surname and "Of X blood'' trait which are nice for RP or just that completionist feel. I don't feel like going in depth about how to maintain your family since I see that this thread is at least some days old, but if anyone wants I could try to(havent played M2 in a while).

Yep, one province equals one general/child for your faction.

I've had the same thing happen to me as England in my current campaign. Just be patient and cherish the males of the family line that you do have and don't put them in harms way. Just keep declining marriages unless the suitor is really a good addition and marry your current males as quickly as possible. It will eventually balance out and although I thought I was going to lose the original family line it persevered through the de Blois line who are now the Royal Family.
