I'm looking at editing existing normal to create new ones, currently for shields.
Currently I can create defuse/seculars for new textures, I can create the units & make new texture entries (to avoid saving over the existing ones & link them up).
But now I want to create some normal to go with these shield, the problem is - I have no idea how to create one from scratch, or the process of editing an existing one to learn - all of the guides on her are about converting existing ones into the Rome 2 format (Which requires the steps before hand I don't know).
If anybody would be as kind to write a short beginner's guide on how to edit a shield normal using Photoshop (nvida plugin) & file pack manager I'd be most grateful.
I believe in Jesus Christ our Savior. If you do too, and aren't scared to admit it, then copy and paste this in your signature. "I am the Way, the Truth, and The Life..." (John 14:6) Yeshua HaMashiach http://khouse.org/
That guide assumes the reader already knows half the steps - aswell as the steps in FPM/hed editing required - it also assumes they know how to create the first normal map & doesn't mention anything about editing an existing one.
I mean for example, in my photoshop under tools I have an nvidia normalmapfilter, I assume I can use this to create the first purple/blue normal map - but it's got a huge list of options & I'm unsure to create it from say, the diffuse texture?, or what.
Once I get to the stage of actually having the map I'm also running into trouble with shields specifically (I that for everything else I don't have to use "imposter models" - which again, when doing basic texture editing I don't have to consider - ergo I'm unfamiliar with the FPM side of things.
For the other aspects I've found some good step by step guides/tutorials - but for normal - not much so.
Hope that makes the question clearer & thanks for your reply.
