I'll buy MTW2 only if it will be moddable more than RTW.
I'm very disappointed that no answer was given by CA and SEGA about the moddability of the new game.
...the encription of the demo seems indeed a step in the wrong direction.

1) It's a demo.
2) It's not the full game.
3) It's a demo.
4) Wait untill you see and try the full game before judging regarding its moddability.
...that's just e preventive measure...
In my opinon the modders of our community have the right to express their preoccupations about the future of the modding matters concerning the new game.

A demo is not really designed to be modded.
I wouldn't worry about that. A thriving modding community is offering free word of mouth advertisment and increases the sales of the game. Not to mention the free brainstorming about development.
No exec in the worls is moronic enough to do away with all this...
I think that is in the interest of the community to pay attention at the moddabilty of the new engine. There are a lot of mod projects around but no sign from CA or SEGA about the possibility to mod the new game. Please don't suffocate every attempt to discuss on these matters ....again, it is in the interest of the community to maintain an high degree of attention on the moddability of MTW2.

But how can you judge the game's moddability when it hasn't even been released yet?Originally Posted by Luciano B
And if you read through the FAQs from CA, you will see mentions of moddability and so forth. They never promised that the demo would be moddable.
I'm not judging the moddability of the new game, I can't obviously ...mine is only an invitation to make the game moddable ...just a remainder to the people who are working on the game, not a judgment or a sentence, OK?Originally Posted by Honor&Glory

Read the line under the title when the Demo loads. Not exact words but it says that this isn't the final product and is subject to changes.Originally Posted by Luciano B
True. And please do not suffocate the attept of other members to have an opinion just because we have a badge. Do you see any threads closing?Originally Posted by Luciano B

While I agree the community must pay close attention to the moddability of the game, I don't agree that the encryption of the demo is an indication that they are attempting to snuff out the modding community or that it is a "step in the wrong direction." Look what happened to the Battlefield 2 demo two summers ago. EA/Dice were not careful enough, and some hackers were able to unlock the secret weapon kits reserved for rank acheivments in the full game, in the demo. While all of us loved RoDeo's work, clearly CA's intention was not to let us have custom battles like last time or they would have added them in the demo.
I have confidence that CA will be more supportive/open to the modding community when M2TW hits the shelves. They know the mods greatly increase the shelf life of their games for most players, and I doubt they'd jeopardize that by barring us out from retail.
I think that the full game will be moddable as RTW, mainly because thanks to the mods, we play yet RTW ....
Didn't one of the guys who went to a game show and interviewed a rep say that they were planning to make more room for modding possibilities? to stretch the limit compared to RTW to allow more things. Wish I could remember which thread it was but they were collecting questions.. I also don't feel like wading through all the topics =P
Rome's demo was moddable and that's the reason people played it for days and days
As far as I remember, the moddability of RTW was very limited. I do know that I spent weeks playing it until the game came out due to that one mod that allowed you to customize the armies for each battle, what was it called?Originally Posted by evya
Perhaps CA found out about our inventiveness and decided they didn't want us to be able to break into the demo and so they encrypted it.
Either way, a demo really doesn't display much of anything in a game besides how pretty it looks and the general flow of things. And even then, most demos come out before the game is declared gold, and so changes might be made and the engine may be streamlined and made more efficient.
I'm confident CA has made MTW II more moddable than RTW. How much more moddable, that's where the question is.

Whats the point of even trying to mod the demo? In a months time no one will be playing it anyway.

You must not have played RoDeo, BWB.![]()
I'm sure some fantastic mods will be out for M2TW in about six month's time, and, I'm sure I"ll have about six of them installed like I do now for RTW. But, I must say that based on the demo so far, I don't see much real "need" for a mod of M2TW at this time. Don't get me wrong, I like to tweak things, too. But, the things that made RTW unplayable for me simply have been fixed in M2TW. The silly unit skins and ugly models, the spacious map, and the rediculously fast battle times seem completely resolved in M2TW...it's as though they listened to us! So, my hat's off to CA on this one...they really have done a good job making realistic units and textures (within gameplay reasonability) and improved the battle timing. So, even if the game will not be as moddable as RTW...which we dont know it wont be...I still definately plan on buying this game regardless. Afterall, I play many other games and don't think to mod them (Battlefield 2, Sims2, Pirates!, etc), so, why must this game be fully moddable? That's a rhetorical question, but, this is my opinion on the matter. Cheers.
