Maybe, being the term Linothorakes quite unusual and uncommon (actually we had a "Linothoriktos" used by Homer that means more or less "Linen-chested" used for Ajax in the Iliadm I think, and some "oi de thorakes oi linoi" -brestplates in linen"),
I did read that this mention by Homer was one of the only references every to specifically say Linothorax (or something similar), but it referred to, like you said, a chest guard or apron, rather than a full thorax.

Kotthybos is just a term to define a Linothorax, or maybe a SPECIFIC kind of Linothorax: hellenistic Linothorakes shown to have a big length difference between the two orders of pteryges, with the second order much more longer (I assume to defend better the legs, lacking the panoply of the common pezeteri of aspis, and maybe "Kotthybos" is a term that define this SPECIFIC kind of Linothorax.
I think the best conclusion is that kotthybos is just an alternate term for linothorax... but I'm not even sure how authentic the term linothorax is...
Thanks for taking the time to inform me

I have some small startpos things that I was hoping that you might add for 0.7: 1) Mesopotamia was Seleucid territory, particularly at the start date of the campaign, the eastern capital was Seleucia, in the neighborhood of Babylon. If you need a place to put the Media faction, might I suggest putting Media in the two southern provinces of Media Magna and Atropatene in the northern province, or some combination. 2) Pergamon was a satrapy of the Seleucids at the start date of the campaign and didn't break away until 262 BC. Maybe it could be set up to where it has a low opinion of the Seleucids and leave it up to the player to try and keep them in the fold.

Also, Cyrene was not a satrapy/client state of Egypt at the start date. In fact, the Seleucids backing Cyrene in it's war against Egypt is the reason that the Seleucids and Egypt were at war.

Would it be possible to give the "sack" ability to all factions. I don't always want to take cities I attack. Is it possible to create more emergent factions? That way you're able to liberate any region.

In Aria, the city of Merv uses the modern name, During this period, it was called Margiana.

Sorry for dissapearing, but in these month is hard work -.-
Briefly... I'm not totally confortable with Pergamon as a Satrapy of the Seleucids... even under the kingdom of Phileteros the condition of Pergamon was something like between allied and vassal, not a proper satrapy... however, I'll go into it to chose the best alternative.

About Cyrene is actually my fault, sorry, I mess up with the dates (sorry Iutland é-è)... Magas declared independence in 276 (not in 271 as I wrote), so actually Kyranyke Pentapolis should start as independent, and at war with Ptolemaike Basileia

About Mesopotamia for the Seleucids I totally agree... unfortunately in this period I'm overcrowded by work so I've slowed down A LOT the RTW stuff... but I'll be up on it soon!

If someone will give me a crash course on how to mod startpos stuff, I can fix the whole Media/Atropatene/Mesopotamia issue to as historically correct as it is possible for us to know.

This is more of a vanilla critique, but in 272, Sardis shouldn't exist. Sardis/Ephesus was the Seleucid western capital as Seleucia-on-the-Tigris was the Eastern capital. There wasn't conflicting authorities there until the reigns of Seleucus II/Antiochus Hierax and again with Antiochus III/Achaeus. Maybe a separate faction could be set up for a 217 BC start date, or it can arise due rebellion, but historically it wasn't there. I understand this might cause concerns about making Arche Seleukia OP, but historically it is correct.

Is anyone else playing as a Successor faction getting random Illyrian cultural influence from building Hellenic cultural buildings?

I have also noticed this when playing as Syracuse. Same problem concerns Venetkens and Rhaetia but with Geto-Thracian culture. Even bigger problem however is with Numidia as their temples have wrong culture (Eastern culture).
Also totally unrelated to this noticed that Iberian techs seems to take only half time to research.

Hopefully these problems can be solved in version 0.7.

hello there. First of all, having tried lots of mods and overhauls, I have to admit yours is the most promising for me. right balance in battle etc.
Now I need to ask for something, i play as athens and i've conquered sparta(lakedaimon). How could it be possible for me to start recruiting spartan units now?
i've tried editing startpos but with no luck.

Thanks Pete, we are glad you like CAC and hopefully will in the future :-)

As Athens or any other faction it is not possible to recruit Spartan units because we don't find it realistic and it us not in line with the overarching goal of the mod. If Spartan units should be fighting for faction it could be as mercenaries, but we haven't implemented that part yet.

    Cheers

Thanks for replying, and I see your point. Though that part about the spartans was just an example. I was referring to something like areas of recruitment.
Like auxiliary and local units in specific regions. I don't think it would be realistic to recruit Athenian Hoplitai in Alexandria for example
