Things i love about this mod thus far:
    1) The Roman military is much closer to the way it should be
    2) I have to play the battles when I don't autoresolve (no more going to pee when the lines clash)
    3) diplomacy is much more detailed.

I don't like just posting criticism. Keep up the good work gents. Also any intentions on putting this on the steam workshop?

Switched over to CAC from DeI, and I've really been enjoying the experience thus far. But damned CA releases an update the day after I download it, now gotta wait until the mod's updated.

    Don't worry a Patch11 version is ready:
    Patch11 Note:
Download the Patch11 compatible version of CAC version 0.5 at mediafire, depositfiles or gamefront and use it instead of the previous non-working pre-Patch11 CAC version 0.5 mod pack.

It is working after the patch today but some issues may still occur after release of the DLC tomorrow, so we will see. If the game breaks during custom battle the workaround is to restart the game in vanilla and start a custom battle with two vanilla factions. Then restart Rome2 with CAC and custom battle should work again

    Like:
Distinct cultures, more diversity in units.
    Native unit names.
Carthage has more Phoenician units which is something I have been waiting for.
    Dislike:
Rosters could use a bit of fleshing out, that's really my only complaint, you guys create a great feel for early game with bands of light infantry bashing each other with clubs in support of some heavier guys it feels way more authentic.

    Want to see next:
Nabataea as a playable faction with it's own roster, I can give you Arabic translations and historic information for this if you would like. Having a prominent Semitic culture will give the East more spice and diversity.
    More Syrian units for Seleucia.

    EDIT -
I'm currently busy with the Age of Bronze mod making rosters for them but I could make a few Nabataean units for you guys if you'd like. I'd love to represent this great faction in ROME 2, it's such a shame their roster only consists of around 6 light units.

when i play as rome for some reason carthage seems to be extremely passive and wont offer any sort of resistance, they had forces in the sea west to sicily, when i took their city which was defenseless with only one legion instead of attacking me they just retreated all of their forces to carthage, from that point all they did was sending their forces to the sea and then back to carthage again

something else i'd like to mention is that as rome its practically impossible to build any army that is beyond small, since the units are so damn expansive and rome is surprisingly poor

Hi, some comments on some things I believe could be improved.

AI is generally not aggressive enough in my opinion, and usually my enemies start asking for peace too easily when at war.

I'd like to have the option to start the game with all the best units already available for all factions, leaving to tech tree and military reforms the job to improve them and introduce some "special corps" while the campaign goes on (I admit I'm not a fan of special fancy super-units like vanilla gladiators or druids, and barely can stand even the presence of Praetorians in the Roman roster...).
I'd rather prefer techs to improve combat effectiveness of standard units

This way tech tree would be still important in order to pursue military development, but we could avoid to see many factions showing only basic units for many turns and being obliterated before the best part of their roster could be fielded properly. I'm sure this would improve both the historical setting and the gameplay immersion.

Another possible thing is about unit strenght, what about giving the option to have units larger than vanilla?

The early game needs some work. This mod is best Ive seen Rome II (and one of the only things giving me any remaining hope) but the early 75% slinger armies are a real drag. Making low level spearmen(or something else in some areas) recruit-able from turn 1 would make the early game significantly better. I mean Massialia was employing armies of almost all slingers in 270 BC, were the Celts? Yeah if I wanted to play massive slinger battles I woulda played at launch.
I would suggest making a low level melee unit available off the bat or by switching slingers and skirmishers. Battle with majority skirmishers both plays and feels better.
Really tho, this mod is the best of Rome II so far and you guys are doing some speedy and talented work. I can only imagine what you could have created with a vanilla game that wasnt so immersionless.

I concur, melee units should be the bulk of all armies from the start, introducing spearmen, swordsmen, axemen and basic cavalry from turn 1.

Archers, slingers (with longer range than bows) and javelinmen should not exceed 15-20% of the total strength of an army: they may be tweaked to be a tad more powerful, just enough to justify their presence, yet saving the general balance...

Thanks for the feedback guys :-)
I agree that we need to modify the starting recruitable units; so far we have just used the vanilla distribution. The availability will of course be linked to the building chain.

Hi guys, I want to congratulate you for this mod, you guys are doing an excellent job even though CAC does not have the recognition it deserves, at least not yet, but I believe that it's becoming more popular by the day! I also used to play DEI, but I sincerely believe that CAC is the best mod at the moment and can evolve to something great! I just hope that you guys will continue your amazing work!

Hi, if I understood correctly, you are actually working on AI, is it? Are you tweaking both CAI and BAI by chance? If you'll be able to improve such things I'm sure your mod will become definitely the best.

CAC BAI looks quite good to me, frankly speaking I actually ignore if this is vanilla BAI or you already tweaked it... on the other hand I still think CAI could be rendered more aggressive and warlike, and a little bit less prone to ask for peace anytime the balance of power is unfavorable... We know that at the time, many peoples, especially barbarians, were usually eager to fight even against the worst odds.

And a question to Il Pitta: Chievo or Hellas? ;-)

    Regards,
    J

Yep, Iutland is working on BAI and CAI
Actually I'm not sure about a less prone to ask for peace CAI... in the past wars ended quite often with peace treaties rather than annhilation (Rome was probably one of the first powers to change that habit), and I recall a Belgic tribe, the Atuatuci I think, that begged Caesar for peace just seeing Roman siege machines on the way... however I think that BAI and CAI moding is still in progress, and all the issues are welcome... however, Iutland can respond about that field better than me :-D

About the personal question... actually I'm not native of Verona, I came here in '98 from Rome, plus, I'm not very fond of soccer... however, if I must, I would choose Chievo, but simply because a significant part of Hellas' supporters are a bunch of right wing racist extremists more interested in bashing rivals supporters' heads than in the game °-°

Ah ah!... Great! Another Roman! I was born in Rome too (many years ago unfortunately...); I'm still living here and my Football Team is AS Roma.

I share all your points, about football supporters, politics and history.
Yes, Aduatici ( or whatever...) were deeply impressed by the "short men" pulling such a huge siege tower towards their walls...

Roman attitude about a "total" war was a real novelty compared to the Ellenistic "ritual" view of warfare and strategy (this explains the failures of both Pyrrus and Hannibal to understand their enemy and so to reach a deal with Rome even after inflicting her disastrous defeats); possibly just Assirians and Persians (forgive my quick and dirty example here...) were somehow comparable to Rome about their view about war and conquest.

Anyway, even though most wars, as you said, ended with peace treaties rather than the total annihilation of one of the factions, I often see my enemies begging for a deal offering gold, cheese and their awful daughters even before the first battle is actually fought or their borders are trespassed...

Thanks a lot for your attention mate. Good night and good luck!

Mod looks really, cool. I haven't been able to play it yet, but I'm really looking forward to doing so.
Just a quick question, are you guys working going to make post for the Eastern rosters, cuz Parthia is my favorite faction to play as!
Keep up the good work guys!

    Thank you Blade!
As I said in other threads, we will redo ALL rosters, but I admit that actually the Eastern ones aren't the nearest (ha-ha).
Ptolemies are done (and I must to find some times for the presentation and BEFORE that to get my PC to display them correctly -gonna buy a new graphic card, I think -.-), and Kyrenayke Pentapolis (small one) and Makedonia are on the way... I think we will finish Successors and Daco-Thracians before moving on other factions.
