    Default Upgrading my 9600xt

I plan on upgrading my very outdated ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB to an ATI Radeon X800GTO 256MB.

    My current specs are:

    P4 2.6 with ht tech.
    1 GB DDR ram
    ATI Radeon 9600XT 128 MB

What do you guys think? Keep in mind that my PC only accepts AGP 4x/8x, no PCI-E for me

Looks good, thats about the only good mid range AGP card left. It's either that or the X1600Pro. The X800 performs better though.

BTW, if you got the cash, the Geforce 6800GS for $166 doesn't sound bad either.

Good card, but it lacks shader model 3.0, which could be a problem for some games like Oblivion.

Might want to look into the Radeon X1650 PRO and Geforce 7600GS, which are like 5-10 dollars more.

Well i don't really care about Oblivion (already got it on 360). I'm only buying this card specifically for Medieval II: Total War & maybe Company of Heroes, but Medieval II ftw.

Do you think its better or worse then the Radeon X1650 PRO and Geforce 7600GS.

Also, I only have a 295w psu. Will it still work?

Oh yea, almost forgot the 7600GS. Same price as the X800GTO but performs better and support for SM3.0

I was just using Oblivion as an example as games might start requiring SM3.0.

I am a Nvidia fan so I would suggest the 7600Gs, but looking at some of them it appears that a 350W power supply is needed.

On the 850 you posted it also says 350w+ recommended.

Also, your P4 2.6 may slow down your performance so do not be sad if a new video card will not boost performance.
