Default Protestors storm Libyan parliament and shot two MPs!!

Two members of Libya's parliament were shot and wounded when protesters stormed the General National Congress (GNC) in the capital, Tripoli.

Witnesses said the two were hit as they tried to drive away from the scene.

The protesters, who rampaged through the building, were demanding that the GNC be dissolved and a date set for early elections.

There have been demonstrations across the country since congress extended its mandate until later in the year.

Those who entered parliament on Sunday said they were also angry about the "kidnapping" overnight of demonstrators from a sit-in outside congress.

They said those responsible belonged to a former rebel group that operates under the GNC's command.

The protesters - mostly young people armed with knives and sticks - stormed the building chanting "resign, resign", AFP reported, citing a member of the GNC.

Two and half years after revolution and Libya is more and more like a failed state and regional troublemaker, it really makes me wondering is this what Libyans really want from revolution and whether Libya would become next South Sudan or even Somalia...

    But......but....Democracy......Arab Spring.......Happy timez for all.........
Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

anyone who thought any of the Arab spring countries would have it easy are deluding themselves ; from the very start I saw it as a gamble of high risk high reward endeavour , democracy is good - getting rid of dictators even better but consider these questions as if I am interrogating any of the Arab spring countries :-

1)do you have any recent experience of democracy?
2)do you have internal religious troubles
3)do you have minority trouble of another kind or internal trouble with organisations , clans, militias etc?
    4)are you having economic trouble?
5)do you have problems with corruption?
6)are you having difficulties with extremism?

If your answers follow this pattern N , Y , Y , Y, Y, Y which most of them do then you are in for a rough ride ... then you begin too see the issues facing the Arab spring and Egypt even managed to elect another dictator ... just raising the bar a little

Well Tunisia seems to be getting along fine. So at least the Arab Spring wasn't a total disappointment.

Didn't they just recently hand over a death sentence to an artist for "mocking" their religion?

They still have "blasphemy laws", so the only thing Arab Spring really did was making things easier for multinational corporations. Dollar Akhbar!

Libya is one of the most unstable states out there. That's what happens when you have a power vacuum after a strong dictator. I'll be frank. I prefer for countries like Libya and Somalia to have a strong dictator (Assad style) than the countries to have a weak "democracy" where the government has little hold on the country and chaos often erupts.

Apparently the government is getting ready to take back its ports.

Libya was democratic on a communal level but rigidly authoritarian on a national level. Now it's trying to be democratic on a national level but it's extremely authoritarian on a communal level.
Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and SIS (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and coup de main [sic] incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals. Incidents should not be concentrated in Damascus. [A] necessary degree of fear, [...] frontier incidents and [staged] border clashes [will] provide a pretext for intervention. The CIA and SIS should use [...] capabilities in both psychological and action fields to augment tension. [Funding should be provided for a] Free Syria Committee [and arms should be supplied to] political factions with paramilitary or other actionist capabilities.

I don't think anyone is surprised about the aftermath. When you have a authoritarian leader, armed radicals, corruption and located in a region that isn't considered stable, it all leads to the inevitable chaos that ensues and still persists to this day. I told one of my acquaintances when the West started intervening that Libya will be the same as it always has, but with a different leadership; violence, corruption, extremists and poverty will still remain.

Under Gadaffi there wasn't this much instability and the Government held tighter reigns on the country in terms of security.

Why didn't you tell all those pro-revolution TWC members (and you would be surprised how many were out there, many are still roaming around in Mudpit as respective members today) who thought Free Libya would miracly get rid off its economic problems and become a paradise of freedom?

Probably because democracy doesn't come over night, something that you and others still don't understand.

This is true but the problem is that it's often presented as a no-brainer: moving towards democracy is always good and worthwhile. And in some cases it may be, though in Libya's case it might not be so clear-cut...

I support revolution because anyone sitting on the top of others should have their heads on guillotine.

But usually countries with dictators have much bigger problems, due to their people. Revolution couldn't fix people.

So I'm sure you're all aware now that Zeidan (the former PM) has fled the country after he was dismissed by parliament following his failure to deal with Cyrenaica seperatist groups, who managed to successfully export oil in a North Korean flagged tanker.

Following that, there's been some clashes between militias loyal to the Libyan congress (well, parts of the congress) and federalist/seperatists in the east, combined with some mutinies in favor of Khalifa Haftar (the leader of the worlds least effective coup attempt).

On top of this there's been an announcement made for fresh elections in July.

So, looks like Libyan's have plenty to look forward to.
As far as I can tell, your entire enterprise is little more than a solitary man with a messy apartment which may or may not contain a chicken.
