    Default Unit voices and banners

    This is a great mod, a truly professional job, but I've noticed that in my install, there are no squadron banners or unit voiceovers. Voices are voices, so if the content doesn't exist, that's alright. However, no banners is problematic because it makes it impossible to keep track of the battle from an overhead view. Is there any way to fix this at all?

    The lack of voices is intentional and their never will be voices. The lack of banners is intentional because Undyingnephalim wanted actual men who carry the banners, not banners that float in the air.

    What this mod really needs to help you keep intrack of the battles is the button you press to flash all units red and green for enemies and allies.

    Drag your mouse over the battle if you need to check which units are yours. Generally this isn't a problem though except for fighting rebels because each faction has radically different appearances.

    I just don't understand why the flashing icon isn't in the game in the first place.

    I'm not complaining, but it would be fun if each unit was 'voiced' like they are in the Zelda games. Even if it's just like, every Goron gets the same TP Goron grunts, the koroks make the same jingly sounds, and so on, it would be cool to see/hear that.

    How add voice & flash & banners?

    P.S. Post denied. New posts are limited by number of URLs it may contain and checked if it doesn't contain forbidden words. WTH.

    Maybe it's because I'm a new user, but this forum is giving me lots of grief. Not letting me post or edit.

    Anyway, I've tried adding disable_arrow_markers = 0 into Configuration.cfg, and I've tried setting show_banners = 1. This didn't seem to have any effect.

    You are going to need at least 15-40 posts before you actually start unlocking edits and such.

    I'm not familiar with the game's code, but I'm going to assume that the units do not have banners, thus even if they were activated there would be nothing to display. I'm fine with not having banners, it's cool to see the little tiny ones instead.

    I'd be willing to add in banners and voices (just grunts soundripped from TP/OOT) myself and release a submod, but I'm not familiar enough with the game files to know where to put the necessary information. I tried looking at the files, but it's pretty byzantine; and I tried searching, but I couldn't find anything relevant.

    If anyone could point me in the right direction that'd be great.

    I might include an option later on that has icons that float above a unit group. The ginormous floating flags always really bugged me in Total War, they've only gotten bigger and more obnoxious with each entry.

    I'm happy without the mysterious levitating flags, but I can see some people having uses for them. And who knows, maybe I'll realise that enjoying HUD elements neatly integrated with the game world is a good idea.

    Having the unit-carried flags however is a nice touch. Especially when the banner has a unit-specific icon (like Zora Inf's banner with a glaive symbol)

    Thank you very much. For me, it's a practicality, since if we have a giant battle with thousands of units, it's difficult without pausing constantly, to keep track of all the little men and how close they are to breaking. Especially when the enemy has a small, elite squad that can be impossible to find if the terrain is forested or tall grass.

    What about the unit flash button?

    @Cameron Shutters

    It would still help a ton when trying to locate enemy units, this is especially necessary in HTW because their are some very tiny units such as Gohma and fairies.

    As much as voices are anti-Zelda, I find the way CoW High Elves say "We fight for the salvation of the world" when clicked upon to be very cool. Will you at least add grunts or any related sound?

    Given soundbites from the various games, we could have shouts and grunts for Zora, Gorons and Deku (Link forms from MM), Kokiri (Link from OoT and MM), Lizalfos (OoT, possibly elsewhere too), Hyrule (if we want OoT's Adult Link to provide), Ikana (MM), Stalfos (if Ikana hasn't used all the skeletal sound effects), Moblins (OoT, WW and others perhaps), possibly even Ordona and Twili (TP, Twili if there's any sounds that aren't not reserved for Midna and Zant).

    Also, I'm filled with an irrational desire to see all Ghoma units voiced by Minecraft spiders...

    @thereRegistered
    Alkthough I'm tempted to say 'isn't that the point of small, elite squads?', I'd like to irrationally insist that the 'show unit factions' buttons would solve this too. Maybe. Been a while since I saw it used...

    I don't think we need the mega banners. Afterall, why would the Gohma carry ones?

    I'm sure you've been playing this game much longer than I have

    Only reason why I say this is because I got Medeval 2 for this mod, and didn't realize that banners were a thing until I actually tried the real game much later.

    I am when it comes to the game, and real time strategy wargames in general.
    The only ones I played previously were turn based and not much of those either.
