Default Isengard vs Mordor Uruks - puzzled.

Every 1vs1 custom game I played using these units resulted in a Mordor victory.

Strange if you look at the stats.
Isengard Uruk-Hai infantry has 1 more defense, has more stamina and discipline than the Mordor version. The only thing Mordor Uruks have as an advantage is that they tire less in hot climates, due to Mordor's climate, I guess. I did all my tests in the Grassy Plain map, so that shouldn't count much. Everything else is the same, as far as I can see (upkeep and recruitment costs aren't factors here).

Could someone give me an explanation please?

On a more positive note for Isengard fans, I tested the Berzerkers vs Olog-hai. The battle trolls got ripped to shreds

First, if you only did one test there's a lot of variables and 1 point of defense skill is a very small difference. It may be Uruk-Hai infantry would win 60% of the time but got the worst of the fighting in this run.

Second, they use different animations. Uruk-Hai use MTW2_Fast_Mace while Mordor Uruks use MTW2_Swordsman. It could be that the Mordor Uruk animation is more effective.

    Read my first post, buddy

"Every 1vs1 custom game I played using these units resulted in a Mordor victory." That means I did quite a few. I admit, I did them all on the Grassy Plains map. However, I chose that map because I believe that it is neutral to both forces.

You did give me the answer. It has to be the animations, although I don't really understand how they work. If there are plans for TATW 4.0, I formally ask the mods to consider the animation factor as well. I have seen similar things with other units, the "superior" ones losing. I am not sure who has the superior Uruks in the LotR lore, but game-wise, Isengard should have the upper edge because they rely on the Uruks a lot.

Highly unlikely, considering the mod is not in development anymore.
It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it.

He could edit the mod himself.

I could, but that would be blasphemy to the mod and a lightning bolt would strike me within 5 seconds.

Someone should make TATW 4 for Rome 2.

    And quickly.

I vote for First Age: Total War

On topic, there was just a discussion on combat mechanics, and the kill equation seems proportional to 1.1^(atk-def+mdf), so each point of either attack or defense should give a unit 10% advantage (exponential). Uruks and Uruk Hai are both sword+shield infantry so they should have the same animations. I can't explain the test results.

I did at least a dozen tests. Every time, and I mean every time, Mordor wins. It has to be the animations.

Animation choice cause a lot of difference.
First off they affect the attack animation by which harm is done to the enemy, secondly it mean that the slower unit is more likley to be forced to do a defence animation to counter incoming blows - instead of making an attack animation. You do the math

That Isengards Uruks use the mace animations is logical, because it is a cutting sword the films gave them. You would have to swing it as an axe or mace or alike, since the design has no stabbing edge (and for the ones who cares: the books describe them as short and broad-bladed swords, make me think of a mean looking gladius hehe).

I honestly think MOS is better at this stage they have more consistent quality across faction whil DaC has a few copy and paste feeling factions
