St. Brice's Day Massacre, where the Saxons under Æthelred II massacred all the Danes they could find in England.

Yes, The St Brice's Day massacre, 1002AD - and that would be Aethelred 'the Unready' - who was certainly unready for what came next (but this is not the source of his nickname).

The woman in the picture who was killed in the massacre (along with her husband and family) was Gunhilde: sister of Sweyn Forkbeard - King of the Danes, son of Harald Bluetooth (whom he usurped) and King of much of Norway. Sweyn is said to have taken the death of his sister personally and responded, as Vikings are wont to do, by raiding, invading and collecting even larger sums of Danegeld (tribute) then he already was (a large part of the motivation for the massacre in the first place). Sweyn led 3 invasions and the Vikings in general continued to lay waste to to England for the next 12 years culminating in a full scale invasion in 1013 with Sweyn being also crowned King of England in 1014, until his death - five weeks later at the age of 54 years.

Well, the "ejército de Chile" doesn't leave much to the imagination. That must be the Stadium of Santiago, where the Chilean army temporarily detained several political prisoners, soon after Pinochet's coup, in 1973.

Yes, but not only detained - by the end of it several thousand were murdered or "disappeared" in a very short period of time.

Indeed. And these disappearances are still a controversial issue in modern Chile, with numerous officials of the dictatorship trying to avoid their responsibilities. If you are interested in Chilean matters, I encourage you to watch the Pearl Button.

On topic, the next picture concerns two well-known personalities (especially the second one is one of the most famous historical figures) and serves like a romantic epilogue to a very bloody conflict. What's the event:

The meeting of Marshal Soult, the Duke of Wellington's and Lord Hill in London to celebrate the coronation of Queen Victoria.

That's right. Wellington grabbed Soult from his arm, in a catchy reference of how much trouble he faced at defeating Soult once and for all, during the Peninsular Campaign.

Eh bien Monsieur Bandiera Rossa, actually meeting took place at the beginning of the war (May 1704), but I'm gracious so it's your turn

I'm sorry, but I can not give you reputation now.

...I can track down a book that mentions this image, but the book is not available for preview. Darn it.

Correct! The Battle of Cable Street, in which Jews, Socialists, Communists and trade unionists sent Oswald Moseley's fascists running when they tried to march through a working-class Jewish neighborhood.
