    Icon4 Gunpowder!!!

I was just playing around on TATW, and i thought to myself, that having a unit such as a monster bombard would be epic!

I tried to use the superweapon resource by KK, but the download won't work, so i am now hoping that somebody would be willing to make this mod! If you do Thank You! in advance.

    Best regards Billybob123

clearly Saruman should get the best gunpowder units.

uruk-hai musketeers. warg rider pistoliers. berserker suicide bombers. (okay maybe not them)

    make it happen.

If there are many people that feel like this, all we need is someone epic enough (and who is willing of course) to make this idea a reality!

Aye, there is nothing like raining down boom booms on your other wise ranged-superior foe.

Arda is long overdue for fire-arms, and I see no reason why there shouldn't be any in the Third Age Mod. Don't anyone say that "There were no guns in the Third Age so guns there be none in the Third Age mod", for just because the game is named after an era, doesn't mean that said game should only contain that era and none other. After all, is not Medieval II: Total War contain the early Renaissance, above just the 3 Medieval periods?
    -----
My problem with MOS, which is why I didn't download it, is that Isengard cannot recruit gunpowder units - only retrain 'em, meaning that potential for boom boom is rather limited. So I've been searching (unsusseccfully) for another mod that gives them some good explosive power.
Unfortunately, most "setpiece mods" (That is, mods that are designed to offer a setting that differs from the base game - unlike mods such as Stainless Steel which are more designed to play as a refinement of sorts) make it very difficult to find information with regards to the tech-trees of factions. So the only way I may find out such unit information is to download the mod itself.

So far the only mod I have downloaded with the Third Age setting is Divide and Conquer, which so far appears to be a disapointment on the gunpowder front.

if you wanted to recruit gunpowder units then find the building they are retrained from and change the value 0.99 to anything over 1

If you are looking for gunpowder units in Third Age Total War, you should stop searching for it. Unless you will make one, there most likely won't be any gunpowder mods that suit your needs, ever. Simply because TATW modders have their lore reasons for not making those. Middle Earth has never really had any gunpowder, no matter which age.

I think this is what happens when you have gamers come in who really don't "get" the source of the mod.

If there MUST be guns id assume the dwarves to have them (Warhammer fantasy is my main inspiration on that point)

No, Isengard would get them, Isengard is Tolkien's view of the industrialisation of the world.

mrdor strikes me as the most industrial simply because it is the largest centralised orc nation that equips and more amazingly feeds everyone

Well Mordor has massive amounts of slaves in Nurn where they farm their food supplies. In the Fourth Age i think the king of Mondor gave Mordor to those men who made it their home, because of the volcanic ashes Mordor actually became a beautifull place i believe.

Ngugi pls add to this or correct me if i'm wrong, it's been a long time for me since i've read this stuff up somewhere.

Frodo and Sam gazed out in mingled loathing and wonder on this hateful land. Between them and the smoking mountain, and about it north and south, all seemed ruinous and dead, a desert burned and choked. They wondered how the Lord of this realm maintained and fed his slaves and his armies. Yet armies he had. As far as their eyes could reach, along the skirts of the Morgai and away southward, there were camps, some of tents, some ordered like small towns. One of the largest of these was right below them. Barely a mile out into the plain it clustered like some huge nest of insects, with straight dreary streets of huts and long low drab buildings. About it the ground was busy with folk going to and fro; a wide road ran from it south-east to join the Morgul-way, and along it many lines of small black shapes were hurrying.
‘I don’t like the look of things at all,’ said Sam. ‘Pretty hopeless, I call it - saving that where there’s such a lot of folk there must be wells or water, not to mention food. And these are Men not Orcs, or my eyes are all wrong.’
Neither he nor Frodo knew anything of the great slave-worked fields away south in this wide realm, beyond the fumes of the Mountain by the dark sad waters of Lake Núrnen; nor of the great roads that ran away east and south to tributary lands, from which the soldiers of the Tower brought long waggon-trains of goods and booty and fresh slaves. Here in the northward regions were the mines and forges, and the musterings of long-planned war; and here the Dark Power, moving its armies like pieces on the board, was gathering them together.

    (...)

In the days that followed his crowning the King sat on his throne in the Hall of the Kings and pronounced his judgements. And embassies came from many lands and peoples, from the East and the South, and from the borders of Mirkwood, and from Dunland in the west. And the King pardoned the Easterlings that had given themselves up, and sent them away free, and he made peace with the peoples of Harad; and the slaves of Mordor he released and gave to them all the lands about Lake Núrnen to be their own.

    About the slaves? Yes

Though I'm not sure weither that should be read as a foundation for a more or less industrilized society. Personally I think that per capita Isengard was more, though the total production capacity of Mordor was greater.
Slaves can tend to hint a less industralized socity since more labour is solved trough normal manpower.
