Default IBFD 7.03 some experiments and questions...

    Hello

Awaiting patiently the release of the IBRR, I had the rare luck to have the Fall of Rome mod. Unfortunately this mod went unfinished but provided some excellent skins for Late Antique warfare, which I decided to add in my IBFD for personal use and taste (without wanting of course to exploit some others work - especially someone's who had done an oustanding job like this). I added the Excubitores to ERE and some units to the Sassanids, for example heavy infantry, archers and horse-archers while on the same time I tweaked the recruitment times for Sassanids and increased the unit number of Roman cataphracts and clibinariis in order to be able to tackle on the overpowered Sassanid Empire. Also I increased the armor rating of the hippotoxotai, because their stats did not correspond to their strong lamelar armor protection, while I added the Milites Stationarii as the -par excellence- limitanei spearmen militia to the roman factions.

I have some questions regarding that unit transfer:

I would like to add the beautiful skins of Sassanian elephants in IBFD, in order to have another type of elephants selectable except for the current one, but the descr_mount file keeps saying that does not recognise the "indian elephant" type, and recognises only african... maybe anyone has any idea how to fix that. Another one question is where we can find the ibfd enhancement pack with hadrian's wall and roman stone forts et.c., because the current links are pretty much dead...

By the way, how is the progress of IBRR going?

While IBFD is on the way to be replaced by IBRR 8.0 hopefully by this summer :-), I would like to add some units and to to do some rebalancing issues to the current 7.03 regarding AOR recruitment. I would like to ask who was the creator of the Fall of Rome mod in order to be able to use some of the units and to add them to this version 7.03.

Razor was creator of those units (probably all).
Florin80 was team leader and textures were made by leif_erikson (Roman shield designs and late Roman tunic patterns).

Razor still try to make a mod (name is Fall Of Rome) but for Medieval II. In his thread he said those units can be used by others. So maybe he will give permission to use them in this mod too.

PS: I am not surprised that Fall of Rome still have fans
I am one of them. These units were perfectly crafted, unit infos had same size, view and feeling. They just looked like a complete set, not a strange mix as in most other mods.
I hope someone can re-done other unit infos in that style.

Razor did a lot of units, yes. But FoR also used models and unit work from people such as Salvor Hardin, MihaiV, Caius Britannicus, Zhuge_Liang, MaxImus, and also used stuff from EB. Just check the credits, and all will be revealed.

So, you're not bringing any new information to the table. If Leon Katakalon wants to use stuff that others have made, he still need to get permission from the creators of that particular texture/model/whatever.

Sorry Hanti, for me your link wasn't working so after a small search I've found the Razor's Mod for Kingdoms:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ate-Roman-mod)

Sadly the mod is now on hold for RL issues of Razor, but it is not dead and let me say it's absolutely magnificent, the units are awesome, so is the map and the whole project.
Thanks for having made me discover this masterpiece! +rep!

No, florin80 was the leader of the now dead Fall of Rome mod. I doubt you'll get any response from him, but then again you don't need permission if you're modding for your own personal use.

He's dangerous and deadly Norseman! The Norse are dangerous peoples, living in the Far North, in the most remote regions of Earth, always drinking and fighting, while their God Wotan is watching at their innumerable battles laughing and drinking hard, and his minions, the Valkyries as they call them, half divine - half human female warriors, are riding in the sky over the battlefield, killing and slaughtering the survivors! Then, the best among the dead warriors, are brought in the halls of Wotan, in Asgard, .... where they start drinking again, ever after death, in the wait for the next fight!
These are the Norse! .... beware Sertorio, you are a lucky man, being still alive with your head at its place!

In fact I meant to upload that, to make it accesible and to other users of IBFD.

Well, I guess you're thinking of the MedII mod with the same name led by Razor?

Right, well, then my advice is to look up the credit list for FOR and check who's made the stuff you want to use. If you, for example, want to use a particular model, you don't need the leader's permission, but you do, however, need the permission of whoever made that model.

Its a shame the Fall of Rome mod "fell" into the dust bin of history. It was actually pretty good.

Yes, it was great, the units, the skins, the 2d art. Although it was quite unfinished it was very good. I am trying to do a kind of merging ;-) given my current modding abilities.

Yes, I actually wanted to enrich the IBFD 7.03 since I really love the era (410 A.D.) and the disposition of the states on the map. That version needed some rebalancing, and enhancing. For example I felt that the Excubitores unit was missing, as for example the Lateralensis Germanicum (which do exist in the files) which also are not there. Also, aside the steppe horse-archers (with those Jesus-like faces), the Sassies lacked a horse-archer unit.

Well, all the units you mentioned are included in IBBR (V8).
