    House Hightower Bio

House Hightower is an ancient and powerful House that rules from the city of Oldtown that is located at the mouth of the Honeywine River. They have ruled the city for thousands of years before the Andals had ever come to Westeros and to this day they still rule it with their power and strength having remained untouched. The Hightowers are most known for the magnificent fortress, an 800 foot high Lighthouse that sits majestically in the middle of the city of Oldtown in the middle of it’ on Battle Island. From this seat of power, the Hightowers have come to rule over one of the fertile areas in all of Westeros and this has made them very wealthy and their city extremely prosperous.

Although the Hightowers are descended from the First Men and though they still have First Men blood running through their veins, the Hightowers have slowly become Andalized over the last one thousand years. Instead of fighting with the Andal invaders, the Hightowers have cooperated with them and as a result of this cooperation, the Hightowers were able to keep their land and territories while never being overthrown. This cooperation with the Andals has led to the Hightower adopting many facets of Andal culture in the process including their technology, customs and even their faith.

Now, 1,000 years after the Andals first invaded Westeros, the Hightowers are finally ready to usher from their ancient city and march across Westeros to carve a kingdom for their own.

A single ship, with gold and black banners, long, with dozens of oarsmen, it's hulk painted black and a crowned stag as figurehead, arrives at Oldtown harbour; its captain, Arrac Durrendon, the seafarer, requests an audience with King Triston Hightower.

As the ship enters Oldtown's harbor, it is quickly intercepted by two Hightower war galleys that escort the Durrendon ship towards the military harbor of Oldtown. Once in the military harbor, the Durrendon warship is instructed to dock at one of the wharfs that is located directly on Battle Island. Once the ship has reached the wharf, the passengers are allowed to disembark and they are met by a small party of Hightower knights who wait silently for these visitors to speak.

"Very well then." said one of the Knights. "If you would come with me Prince Arrac." He and his comrades then escorted the Prince and his retainers into the Hightower and into the throne room of King Triston. When they entered the throne room, the Hightower King was sitting upon a golden throne that was raised upon a high stage with many steps leading up to it. The knight who spoke earlier quickly whispered a few sentences to a nearby herald who then side, "Your grace, Prince Arrac of House Durrendon has come to speak with you."

When King Triston saw the Prince arrive, he said "Welcome to Prince Arrac. What brings you so far away from the Stormlands?"

"Friendship, your Grace. Your Kingdom is always increasing it's might and influence, none of your neighbours can equal you, my King of Hightower. You House is as ancient as mine, as glorious, as powerful, as rich and unopposed in their respective regions"

He bows politely. He was handsome, as Durrendon were usually, but a thin scar crossed his left eyebrow, from the forehead to the cheek. His blue eyes stare the Hightower King. His skin was coloured and burned by the sun and the waves, a seafarer.

"And how would an alliance with the Storm Kings benefit House Hightower, Prince Arrac. Our two realms are far a part from each other and it would be foolish to think that it would even be possible to provide each other military support. The distance is too great for a such a thing." said King Triston in a serious manner. "If I am to lose a daughter then I must gain something in return."

"Your Grace with the recent conquest of Stonehelm now my father has the greatest fleet in Westeros, equalled only by your Grace's, more than three hundred and a half ships, many of with are enormous ramming warships; also our land might has increased. We could support your Grace to push your frontiers through the Reach, in a hammer and anvil move, or sail them to Oldtown swiftly. Also my House has just married with King Lannister's only sister, that could mean a reliable ally in the North, and far closer to your domain. Friendship and colaboration, my dearest King Triston, that is our offer"

After a few moments of deep thought, King Triston replied "I am still not convinced that this alliance would be beneficial to me Prince Arrac. The distance between our realms are still great and the sea between here and Storm's End is controlled by other realms. What makes your think that they would be so willing to allow your fleet or my own to sail back and forth unharassed?"

"Well you shall discuss this with my father, I'm but a mere sailor, a seafarer who is more comfortable at a ship desk that in land. Niceties of politics are too complex for me, my King Triston. I suppose fear and respect could allow our fleet to sail unopposed, more so if our naval might is joined, nor even the Ironborn could match us"

    He scratches his head, pensative.

"Your Grace, I'm a sailor, and I've heard things, something is moving, in the Islands, it's whispered that their previous King has died. Suddenly their raids ended, there is an uncertain peace in the shores of Westeros. But the followers of the Drowned God will not sit idle, King Triston. Even if in land our alliance could be less profitable only our combined fleets can easily counter the Ironborn raiders. And we don't know what will rise from this sudden silence, if the Iron Islanders are again joined under a powerful ruler they could drown our Realms, rivers will not longer be fruitful lands, but dangerous, living under the menace of the Ironborn. Oldtown secures the Honeywine, but the rest of the coastline is far more difficult to defend"

"Supremacy in the seas, a shield against Ironborn, I suppose that is our offer, but, your Grace, I won't be offended if you reject to grant me the hand of one of your fair daughters, that's understable. If you feared we would take it as an offense, forget it. My King won't wrong me, nor my father, as I have a younger daughter, of whom my father is very fond and protective to; I know he wouldn't marry her unless someone brought him the very crown of all the Stormlands, so I understand your Grace"

"Giving up my daughter's hand in marriage is not something that I am worried about doing Prince Arrac. It is binding myself to someone else when I know so little about them and who there friends may be. That is what worries me." said King Triston in a serious but calm voice.

"You have already informed me of your coming ties to the Lannisters, a fact that surprises me greatly considering that between the distance between Oldtown and Storm's End pales in comparison to the distance between Storm's End and Casterly Rock. It makes me question, if you are allying with them, who else are your allying with. An ally who behinds himself to many is not an ally worth keeping for when it comes the time that you need him the most, he will not show up because he is otherwise already engaged."

"Your offer for an alliance is intriguing Prince Arrac, do not let my words mislead you from that thought."
said King Triston. "But before I bind myself to someone else, I must know enough about him to ensure that I do not fall into someone else's trap."

I cannot commit in good faith to an alliance that brings so many unknowns with it. You are free to stay here in Oldtown for as long as you wish Prince Arrach and enjoy the hospitality of my House. A raven is sent in reply granting permission for the three ships to dock at Battle Island. After the three ships are docked and the passengers having disembarked from their ships, they are met by Crown Prince Rolland Hightower and a small honor guard of ten Wardens of the Hightower.

"Welcome to Oldtown men of Dorne. What brings you to my fair city?"

After a six month absence from the city of Oldtown, the Princes of House Hightower make a triumphant return to their city at the head of the Army of the Honeywine bringing news of the fall of Westmarch and the expansion of the Hightower realm. It was glorious event as the people of Oldtown lined the streets to cheer the return of the victorious soldiers as they paraded trough Oldtown's many streets and alleys ways as the soldiers slowly made their way across Battle Island and the Hightower.

When they finally arrived at the Hightower fortress, they were brought before King Triston Hightower and the Hightower court where Prince Rolland Hightower said
"Father, we have returned from the Westmarch and we are happy to tell you that the banner of our House now flies beforeevery holdfast and castle within the Westmarch. House Tarly has bent the knee and the road towards Highgarden is now secure."

"Wonderful Rolland. just wonderful. Our realm is expanded and we are now one step closer to dominating the South of Westeros. How did the Tarlys take it when our armies advanced upon their? I'm assuming they put up some kind of a fight if it took you this long to return to Oldtown." said King Triston with a grand smile on his face.

"Yes father, the Tarlys resisted our annexation. However, in the end, they were powerless to stop us father and our armies easily defeated thier armies in battle on a field before Horn Hill. Let us hope that when we move against Highgarden, the Gardeners won't be as foolish." answered Prince Rolland. He then turned and gave a signal to one of his knights who brought forth a young boy of around the age of ten. "I have brought back with me Lord Tarly eldest son and heir. He will serve as one of my wards and act as a measure to ensure Lord Tarly's continued loyalty to the Hightower crown. This will ensure that we will both control the current ruler of Horn Hill and influence the next ruler that follows him. For Oldtown and the Hightower."

"Excellent Rolland, excellent. With Tarlys heir here, his loyalty is assured. Now go and rest son. Spend some time and relax. Enjoy the company with your wife and bring me a grandson into this world and ensure that House Hightower will continue to endure. Go, do it before the new year comes and you once again lead our armies to expand the Kingdom of the Honeywine and bring more territory under my control."

"House Vespera offers a marriage? How interesting. Please come with me and I shall take you to my father. He shall be thrilled to hear about your offer." said Prince Rolland who turned around and proceeded to enter the Hightower. The Hightower heir led the Dornish emissaries through the Hightower keep and into the throne room where King Triston was holding court. "Father, emissaries from House Vespera have come to our city. They say that Queen Lucia wises to arrange a marriage between our two Houses. I thought that you would want to speak with them yourself."

"Yes, of course. Bring the emissaries forth. As for the rest of you, you are dismissed."
said King Triston. Slowly the throne room emptied of non-essential Hightower nobility and knights, leaving King Triston, the crown Prince, and the three Dornish emissaries alone. Before he spoke, King Triston stepped off his throne and moved to the eye level of the Dornish emissaries as a sign of respect. "Now that we have soe privacy, I welcome you to Oldtown and the Hightower ambassadors of House Vespera and I hereby invoke our ancient customs of the guest rights and give you freely the hospitality of my House. Now tell me, what does Queen Lucia wish to offer?"

Ephraim bows. "My sister wishes to offer one of her children in a marriage with House Hightower. I believe she intended Prince Luceon, who is of sixteen years of age to marry your daughter Carolei, as her offer. But if this offer is not desirable to you, your grace, perhaps a different agreement can be arranged." Luceon makes his way over to his uncle, while Emphyria is observing her new surroundings. "The young man next to me is Prince Luceon, your grace. The young woman observing your court is his older twin, Crown Princess Emphyria."
