Help me........

My comp refused to load up earlier, it would restart when it got to the xp loading screen. so i've reinstalled xp, and am slowly reinstalling everything and setting everything back to how i like it. So far there has only been 1 problem, the comp isn't recognising USB sticks properly. Can anyone help me with this? Ill use this thread if i run into any other problems.

Do you have your motherboard drivers installed?

Yes, but for the USB 2.0 its telling me to use windows update. And everytime i try to open my usb it says i need to format it, which i don't.

USB 2.0 only works with SP1 or higher, do you have that installed?

Yes, i think it is, i have Xp pro 2006 or something, it worked before, its only since the reinstal that it's stopped working.

Well there is a patch for USB 2.0 on normal XP, but you should download and install SP2 anyway if you don't want your XP to be hacked.

I've downloaded all the updates it lists, and it still says please format disk in drive when i try to access my USb stick.

I'm assuming you have the english version. If this don't work, then your best bet is to just turn on automatic updates and let it auto download.

Your mobo may have the USB 2.0 drivers, which may fix the problem. I have had problems with USB sticks and reinstalling the mobo drivers worked for me.
