From local College Station news, the Republicans are embarrassed by his remarks. Still, they knew what they were getting into when they chose him. They did that because he has star power to draw in lots of voters.
Honestly, nothing that joker says surprises me anymore.
I'm not so sure about that. I think that having people as Ted around is part of their new long term planning. They failed twice to move towards the center (McCain and Romney) so their only option is to rally their base. They will use people like Nugent to give the "message" that ultra-conservatives want to hear and when questioned about it they will be "embarrassed".
Both of those candidates pandered to the ultra-conservative base and were hardly centrists. The ultra-conservatives do not need to be rallied by anything the Republicans do, they were sufficiently rallied in their opposition to Obama. They voted for Romney, the problem is they are politically insignificant.
They can dress up and have rallies, say stupid, but outside of congressional races they have no more real political power than the Occupy Wall St. movement. Though even within those congressional races they are really merely a distraction as it is more often than not the money, often Koch flavored, that decides them not the political atmosphere or conservative base. Money which is not ultra-conservative merely money which looks out for money (itself).
Can we also please stop crediting congressional victories by "tea party-ists" or conservatives, or even liberals for that matter in much of the country to such extreme political movements. These are fixed races, in gerrymandered districts which are bought and sold within the political parties who control them. They are indicative of nothing else, certainly not popular politics.

I know all that and I agree. I'm afraid however that the GOP does not think this way, hence, Nugent.

Is he desperate or is it what his followers believe? Ted Nugent can't and never will have political power beyond that of his gathering. Maybe or maybe not he knows what he is doing in regards to gun rights. As for everything else? The hell if I know and that's a problem.
Subhuman and Mongrel, how very painful words. Racism.. perhaps somebody can explain that one to me.
Please don't say this.
Sub-human mongrel - that is language from the days of slavery

Ted Nugent probably has a closer relationship to monkeys.

Now, that would be wrong; I'm sure operating an armed Predator drone within the continental United States is not within the Rules of Engagement.

Nugent is an idiot and maybe a racist - in my view /yes to both- but so what. It not like you can't dig up a bunch of mean things prominent liberal artists said about George Bush Jr or say what happened to Santorum - look it up. That is the joy of freedom of speech you can shoot your mouth off and maybe you shoot yourself and your party in the foot or maybe you make a safe seat a easy win or maybe your really go too far and fall of the map...

Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and SIS (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and coup de main [sic] incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals. If there's a point to being outraged about this, does that mean that Ted Nugent is actually important enough to care about? Sure he's more influential than some random tweeter that outrage porn news sites like to quote, but do people really think the Nuge is that important?
FREE THE NIPPLE!!!
His celebrity is significant to the extreme right wing, because he is one of their most "recognizable" names in a very limited stable. As for why celebrities endorsements are even relevant in US politics, that has to do with them being more relevant to most people's lives than anything a candidate says or does.
Most people do care more about Justin Bieber than American politics, and can you honestly blame them given their current state (and the debate taking place)? Despite all your rantings here, it is mostly wasted energy for all the results it gets.
Everyone brings up the youtube video of MSNBC interrupting Harmon for the news about Bieber. She had nothing significant to say on the topic that MSNBC hadn't been drilling for hours. You can argue that Bieber being arrested isn't news, but neither was that interview.
If you want to hear Jane Harman rant watch this weeks Real Time with Bill Maher, she was terrible.
