Destroying France causes CTD
Alright I've been looking around and I can't seem to find anyone else who has had this problem, although I'm sure they are out there. I read one thread where someone experienced this same problem in Third Age total war, but in that thread they never said if they solved the problem.
Here is the problem: I'm England, I've destroyed Scotland with no problem and I'm just about to destroy France. France's only settlement in Bruges and I have an army that can take the city. The problem is every time I defeat France and choose what to do to the city, thus defeating France, the game shuts down and all I'm told is that there was an unspecific error.
Aside from this the mod has worked perfectly.
This error started in 6.3 and has persisted after I set up 6.4.
This was never a problem when I played as Aragorn and destroyed Spain and Portugual.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice on what to do to solve it?
I have a windows vista if that helps. Sorry, but I'm not very tech savy.
If you have any advice plz let me know. Thanks.

Re: Destroying France causes CTD
Turn number?
You can try to wait some turns and then attack them again, see how it goes
Alternatively you could try using console commands like:
kill_faction <faction_type> : ex. Kill_faction france
surrender_regions <faction_type> :ex. surrender_regions france
if no CTD after france being destroyed, proceed to siege the settlement (now owned by rebels)...if CTD occurs after this then is that there's something wrong with the settlement.

I'm on turn 40. The problem began on turn 39 and I have tried waiting turns before to see if anything changed. For some reason the kill_faction france command didn't work, but when I used the surrender_regions command and france lost the settlement the game crashed so ya, I think you are right that the problem is with the settlement. I'm going to try Used2BRoz's advice on to track down the error, but I'm not very advanced when it comes to delving into code and game files so we'll see how well I understand the link he posted. Still thanks for the advice!

Re: Destroying France causes CTD
mbaer - can you look at this thread on mod workshop please ?
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ow-to-fix-them
It shows how to set up the .cfg file in stainless steel so that we can have a trace of the error that causes the crash.
I'm suspecting something to do with killing the last member of the family and the game then wanting to do something relating to it.
Possibly a trait trigger.
Anyway if you can add the necessary trace line/s to your .cfg file and then replay the turn before the game CTD's that would be most helpful.

Used2BRoz - about the .cfg file, how/where do I add the lines? I tried to add them and the game wouldn't even open. After I got rid of the lines I added the game worked, but still crashed as I explained above. I'm pretty sure I just added the .cfg line incorrectly. Any pointers?
Once again thanks for taking the time to help me with this.
