"A fatal graphics error has occurred" during large battles.

So, I'm playing as the Byzantine Empire at the moment and I've had a Jihad called on Constantinople. So I fortified it with a legion of some of my best troops and waited for the siege attack. The Seljuk sultanate was the first to attack with an army of a little over 2000 men. Now the battle proceeds as usual, all their forces attacking my walls with ladders and siege towers are defeated with no issue. Its when the gate breaks and all their men come pouring through is when the game crashes. The framerate drops insanely low and eventually the game will crash with "A fatal graphics error has occurred" if I look at the center of the fighting too long.

I'm not sure why this is happening. My computer is more than able enough to handle the game, and I can still play battles of over 8000 troops in other mods like The Third Age Total War so I assume it must be problem with SS.

A couple of things:
1. Have you installed the latest RBAI by G5 CTD fix, found in Sub Mods, plus also Settlement Tweaks?
2. You might want to reduce the graphic settings

Sorry for the late reply. Almost completely forgot about this thread haha.

1. No I have not. I'll try it now.
2. Even on the lowest settings this still happens.

Edit: That patch fixed it. I probably should of read the stickies first...

The frame rate will always drop if you focus on the gates when the troops start pouring through. The game engine can't deal with all those animations happening in a small space at close range. You may find the frame rate improves if you look elsewhere on the battlefield. (I know that sounds silly, but it might help.) How much video RAM do you have and how much ordinary RAM ?
