    Default What actions disrupt the script?

    I've heard that loading a save is not recommended as it stops the script -- you should exit and restart the application. What other things do this?
    For instance, if I save, should I exit out and reload that save?
    If I accidentally tab out (which happens if I click on the far right of the screen. Don't know why but this happens in all my games), should I save and reload?

    If you quit a campaign after saving, you should exit RTW and then go back into it....or another campaign. If you accidently tab out of the game, that's OK. You are still in the running campaign.

    I thought you could restart the script if you load a new save file by pressing the esc button and pressing the question mark

    So reloading a map which you are currently playing on screws up the script? I sometimes would reload the map when auto resolving smaller battles and losing 10x more then I should have so what did I mess up?

    If you're in the middle of playing a campaign and you want to load another save, you're gonna have to quit RTW and start the whole process up again, if you want the script to work perfectly. If not, the script will mess up. Happened to me a good while ago. So never autoresolve (unless you have a high-command general or are fighting rebels with a spare stack). Most battles against other factions you should generally always fight, no matter how minor.

    I wouldn't know about what you've said Spartan, but I wouldn't trust it.

    I tesed it out and found that garrisons script work fine even after reloading a save file that I am playing on so what could be wrong?

    I've also re-loaded previously saved games with no trouble.

    ..and some of those were with Autoresolve being used. I've never had a problem with that.
    As long as you don't quit from capaign mode it seems to work fine.
    (Maybe I've just been lucky so far ?)

    This section of the script varifies what Spartan999 said:

    ;;;
    ;;; --- Forced shutdown ---
    ;;;
    ;;; Press 'Esc' on the campaign map, then click on the '?' button in the
    ;;; menu scroll to terminate the script.
    ;;;
    ;;; When would this be useful? -- When you are already in a game and
    ;;; exit back to the main menu to restart the campaign, or reload a saved
    ;;; game, RTW does not automatically terminate the script, so you have
    ;;; to do it yourself. if you leave the old script running, you'll have all
    ;;; sorts of weird problems with the script in the new game.
    ;;;
    monitor_event ScrollAdviceRequested ScrollAdviceRequested end_game_scroll
    suspend_unscripted_advice false
    terminate_script
    end_monitor

    You can turn off the script.

    I auto-resolve a lot, particularly small bands of rebels occurring at times in my territory. Does this mess up the script?
    I noticed the income is different from game to game although I play in similar ways.

    You won't notice it, you could play for a long time with the script not working properly and not realise.

    It's not just the garrison script but there are many others that mess up. Don't ask me what they do. Gives money and armies to AI and stuff.

    Nope. I autoresolve rebel battles too, but I wouldn't trust the autoresolve for important battles. The way it calculates the battles are weird.

    Good to know, thanks.
    I'll be more diligent about Quitting and restarting the script

    Yeah I guess it's a good habit to get into with this game. Plus, apparently RTW chews up a lot more memory than it needs to when you play for a few hours, so quitting and restarting after a while can make the game run much smoother. If you're even bothered.

    Yup, seen that - 300M memory leak per battle for my configuration.
    I run with an extra screen tracking my memory usage. So when I get close to the initial starting point + 4G I save, quit, and start again.

    Not complaining, just commenting - that seems to be much more noticable when running RSII. I've played all weekend with vanilla and never had an issue.

    Whaaat? I am confused. If I reload a battle that crashed I understand that the script is not active. If I reload a game turn, I click on a city, the Advisor appears and when I click her my money count goes up by one. Isn't that the script starting?

    Yes - that's exactly what you should see. Me, I always save at the end of a turn, but before pressing 'End Turn'. Then, when I start again, I do nothing except - select settlement; click on Advisor; see the 1d added - then press 'End Turn'.

    Very occasionally I will save before even looking to have a battle (dinner is magically available 30 mins early!), but I would never fight a battle without activating the script first.

    Funnily enough I never even knew you could save whilst at the battle screen until last year - after all those many years!

    Sometimes I'm playing and the Start the Script advisor pops up even though I don't believe I did anything. Does this mean the script stopped working? If I click it should it fix it?
