A New Gaming Staff Hotseat Tournament!

A new GS tournament hotseat, with 2 players representing every hotseat area(so a team main, a team WTW and a team TATW), fighting in an unfamiliar setting and mod, to determine which area has the best hotseat players.

Jemdkyle proposed to do it on Thera, with this map:

The reasons are simple, first Thera is one of the newest mods of the main hotseat community and the hotseats using the mod immediately achieved a high popularity and were partly responsible for the current revival of the main area. Furthermore, no one is really experienced with the mod, making it more equal between the teams. And finally, the mod combines different time periods and factions and is supposed to have a good balance. Team 1: Kingdom of Avalon(a sort of england medieval, red guys), Royaume de Meravangi(a sort of French medieval, blue guys)
Team 2: Povos da Hispania(roman age hispanics, white and blue guys), Tahar Caliphate(muslims with elephants, orange guys)
Team 3: Faustian Reich(germans with highest tech, late gunpowder area, black and gold guys), Grand Duchy of Dracule(knights, guns and vampires, white and red guys)

Each hotseat area will delegate 2 players to represent them in the tournament. To determine which players shall play, we as Gaming Staff will create topics in every hotseat area asking players to nominate themselves. If more then two players nominate(which I hope will) we shall have polls to determine who will fight for the honor of their hotseat area.

Dux

This thread is the place to nominate players to represent the main hotseat forum in this upcoming tournament game. You may nominate yourself or anyone else you think worthy of upholding our honor. Then we will vote and choose which factions to play. If you want to suggest which two of the factions we use go ahead and due so.

The rules have not been finalized but we will be fighting AI factions and autoresolving player factions.

The winning team of this tournament can crown their community the best of the hotseat area and the two winning players will receive a hotseat medal, special made sig and 30 rep each (or more). -Dux

Lol I wanted to start these threads myself. Dux should have waited. You guys are stealing undue rep here. This is Cannon's way of getting back at me. ಠ_ಠ

Anyway I'll nominate myself for SS. I know I won't be elected but whatever. Barely anyone knows me from the newbies who started after I left. I would really like to play this though. If anyone has had the pleasure of playing with/against me for the last 1 and a half months that I am back, they will know that I am quite capable. Though I enjoy keeping the stupid face that makes hotseating a bit more fun for me, I can play quite well if mind is set to task. TaG3 from Westeros might be my greatest accomplishment so far. It was a tournament hotseat. I tagged with Jiub, against one team of vozd and Matto16, the other team was Mithridate and Dux. 2 more turns to go and I can say we've won that hotseat hands down. Mithridate wasn't in his best form I admit and he left in the second half but we turned it around before he did. So I guess it counts. I stood my own against Dux and conquered 3 of his settlements, 2 of Mithridate's, while I lost none of my own. I eventually did some tactical retreats but it was a timed hotseat so long-term occupation was never really the intention. Current battle score for my faction, House Joffrey, is 22 victories to 2 defeats. One of the defeats was a tactical abandoning of a settlement. The other, I give credit to Dux for it. Anyway I would have played a lot more SS if hotseats were out there..

Otherwise I will just co-admin as Dux promised. I don't mean to be a bugger but you should have said "thanks Jem for the whole thing." Only reason I contacted the GS was to attract more players to it..

But anyway, too unfamiliar with Thera, and afraid that it'll be boring. I have no clue what that mod is and what is it about and I'd like to play hotseats in mods I like. Also, I'm afraid I'll suck outside my terf, which is mainly Westeros and partly SS . So I won't join, but good luck to the Westeros team, I will be rooting for you !

What kind of TV/book series is Thera based on? Or did just a couple of people decided to make a wierdass mod (from the mini map posted on the OP I say this, and from the several factions I read) . I don't have the mod so I can't really judge it but yeah.... Wierd

The mod is based on the inspiration of the creator. It is basically combining all different cultures and technologies of Europe, including Romans and Pirates, and monsters(uruks) on one huge map. It is great and few have any experience with it, so only your true tactical and strategic skills, including your skills in fighting AI factions, shall determine the winner.

The prices will be great, I think a medal, about 30 rep per player and a sig. The winning team will also crown their hotseat community the best Hotseat community for the time being.

The announcement post of the tournament lacks all the glory I hoped it would have. Basically a wall of text is not a good way to inspire people to join a tournament Cannon lol. A couple pictures, list of rewards, a detailed description on how it would be instead of "lel details aren't clear yet" would be much better. We basically got 2 nominees in 2 days time. That is pretty horrible lol. Anyway, this thread should be started in Westeros and TATW boards as well, and with better design perhaps. I will leave you to do it since you seem so eager.

Is it better now? The Third Age people have not decided whether to play or not. I told Dux that we could declare them forfeit and in last place .

@Jiub - You're on my list of nominees. I thought you wouldn't be able to play another game but as we may not get going before March 1

In seriousness i think this is a nice idea but Westeros lacks some of our best players being active/available. I wouldn't count myself among the best, yet lol.

I believe a few other players would be more fitting for the team, so i'll say no on those grounds.
