When I try to attack the greeks or rebels as sparta it forces me to ceasefire. Is this some kind of script? If so how can I disable it?

Interestingly, as Sparta as well, as I was about to finish off Macedon, there was a ceasefire. Half their elite ubertroops left their last settlement, and I killed them, then took the settlement.

I actually had no allies, that's the funny thing. I never bother trying any diplomatic relations with the AI
As Rome I had Sparta and Macedonia continually attacking my cities only to find that we had a ceasefire when my turn came around.

That is the survival script working. Factions reduced to one settlement enter in a forced neutral state. Problem is, as Sparta starts with one settlement, you can't siege a settlement as it will become neutral the next turn. However there is one solution. the cities of the Peloponnese are unwalled so you can take one at turn one and disable the script. Then you can happily go to war with everyone.

Hmmmm....I'll look into that. The player faction should've been excluded.

I still think that survival script is a bad idea - would be great to make it optional.......

its not a bad idea but it needs some tweeking,in my roman campaign, pontus is reduced to one settlement and have some good army's surrounding a greek city but they cant take the city because its getting peace treaty every turn,i think the faction that has one settlement left shoud be agressive and allowed to try take back some settlements.

The reasons I don't like it are simple: firstly it is artificial; and secondly, that because it is it actually makes the game easier! It denies the AI the chance to make a larger empire simply so that the player can 'conquer' everyone!
At the campaign level (only) this is one of the reasons the overall feel of Rome2 is actually 'better'.
If we could have the campaign level of Rome2 with RSII's battles; characters; traits; buildings and all the underneath bits; with even more logistic options - then we'd have a winner! Every few days I hope to win the lottery to fund such a thing!![]()

it can be a good feature but then the faction with one settlement left shoud go and attack the city's that surround them.
look at this picture, why pontus dont attack the greeks there??

They won't - because when they are down to one settlement this script addition forces peace - permanently. So they cannot declare war and no one can declare war on them.
They just sit there until the player(s) [particularly the silly misguided ones who asked for this] wait to 'count coup'.....![]()

It forces 'survival' of a faction until the player can come along and crush them themselves. Players complained that factions were eliminated before they got around to doing it themselves. They simply wanted more notches on their keyboards. Like I said - I argued against it - I think it's a bad idea.

yea i know but can't the script be made that its just the first turns that there is a forced pease so that the faction down to one settlement can recruit new forces to attack or is something like that not possible with the engine??

That's the survival script? What's the point of that?

If the AI's last settlement has a stone wall, you can't siege it to make ladders, because you'll ceasefire.
