Stop Other Factions Attacking me

Hello I am having an troublsome time at the moment, three factions have attacked me at once and with my control only covering roman italy. I cannot hope to take on these other factions at once, is there some file or something I can modify that will stop them from attacking me ?

Please help, I would be very thankfull for tips ?

Don't be afraid to restart and try to obtain non aggression pacts with as many people as possible if you want a peaceful time.

Yes, non aggression pacts and build on as much diplomacy as possible. Attack faction that will not ally with your factions or that sit on easily defended tracts of land. Otherwise the AI tends to blitz, especially on legendary.

the same as what everyone else said. Try to be friends with as many factions early game. If your not giving away a good amount of gold early on then your not gonna have a good time.

Actually, on Legendary is a freaking war fest in the first 15-20 turns. Literally everybody attacks you and while you can win most battles you end up surrounded by just too many stacks to beat and you will soon findyourself stuck defending your cities rather than conquering anybody. I lost an Epirus campaign because both of my armies got stuck close to a Macedon army while none of them was able to attack (such a retarded mechanic to be in the enemies's red zone and not be able to attack them although you could still move a little) and after I ended my turn Rome and Sparta took Larissa and Apollonia and I lost. Oh, yeah, and all that happened after I managed to fend everybody off for 23 turns and winning 4 or 5 heroic victories (which really do not matter because the AI rebuilds full stacks in 2 or 3 turns while you have to wait longer for your armies to refill).
BUT! If you pass the initial challenge the game is easy. You can pretty much steamroll and the only wall to an easy victory is the 99% chance to have a massive rebellion with 12 full rebel stacks appearing and taking over more than half your empire .

I usually play on H/VH so that I do not get blitzed by the AI whom even does not have the ability to beat me wins with overwhelming numbers which seems rather stupid in the first 10 turns. Way of making a "cleverer" AI CA!

You should especially focus on your diplomacy panel: there you can see how your relations with other factions are. Non-agression pacts help you to improve these relations.

Just because 3 factions declare war on you doesn't mean you'll get 3 stacks at the same time. Just hunker down and let them waste their strength on futile attacks. Eventually, they'll get tired of it and agree to a peace treaty. Sometimes they are so busy fighting other enemies they can't spare any troops to attack you. And even if they do come, so what? Use your agents to disrupt and assassinate. Italy is small enough that a small army can quickly march over to defend weak settlements.

I used my first ship to sail around and find all the factions I can and hand them the non aggression pact. Once you got things going, you gonna have some allies, that will give you a hand taking on larger more powerful factions and federations. The 2 most dangerous places for early Rome are the Gauls and Germans on the North and Carthage on the South. Greece is powerful, I steered clear attacking them, but they can be very good allies, because they are loyal and thrustworthy. Keep checking the alliance map every turn and see which faction isn't liked or before you attack, check if they got allies, because they are going to come to aid your enemy.

While all the diplomacy replies are all well and good, you can always take advantage of the fact you can usually defeat AI armies twice your size. I wouldn't restart. I'd MAKE THEM PAY FOR VIOLATING THIS SACRED LAND, TEAR THROUGH THEIR ARMIES TO MAKE THE LEARN WHOM THE TRUE GO--*cough cough* Uh... yeah.

I think if you play on anything other than normal difficulty, you should not even consider complaining about an overly aggressive AI or too many enemies to handle. By picking hard / very hard / legendary, you specifically asked for that kind of thing. :p

Try to think of the grand campaign as some sort of "gangsters playground" where it's all about who you know. No one ever starts war on me because I always know the local up and coming power and we're military allies. I always send cash to my allies so they get more stronger which in turns makes me look stronger. Also, I have a feeling the AI keeps an eye on how successful you are in war. I always use multiple armies in surprise wars. Basically, the Insubres took out the dudes who own Medhlan and the veneti and had their territory. I used three armies in one turn and took all three of their settlements. If they never had those sporadic 1 unit navies running around I could've killed a faction in one turn.

Basically, you have to own the campaign and shape it the way you want. Remember, it's who you know

I wonder how wars are triggered? My Suebi hard campaing went over 30 turns before war was declared and then suddenly almost every border neighbor declared war on me.
