This is the submission/nomination thread for MAARC XLVIII.

The Poll will go up April 7th. No more submissions accepted for this MAARC.

Eligibility

- The nominated AAR must have at least two chapters in January,February, and March.
- The winner of the previous competition cannot compete in this current MAARC
- Only one AAR per person
- Nomination deadline: the last day of the month
- The competition is open for a month, followed by a one week, multi-poll vote.
- If there are less than 5 nominations, the competition is extended for another month.
- Usually authors nominate their own work. If you would like to nominate somebody else's work, please ask for the author's approval first (or encourage the author to nominate the AAR)!]

Advertisement Rules

Advertising is allowed in the official advertising board and in AAR threads. Any other kind of direct advertising to advocate nominees is prohibited. Those who breach this rule shall be disqualified for 3 months.

Asking for votes is not allowed and will result in an immediate disqualification and ban of 3 months from the Competition forums.

The competition manager will take whatever steps necessary to insure the integrity of the competition.

I am playing as the Eastern Roman Empire in Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion

The Conquests of Constantinople is an AAR set in a time of political turmoil and moral flexibility, starting in the late fourth century. The Augustus of Eastern Rome, Valens Flavius, in the later years of his life has became obsessed with reuniting most of the old Roman Empire as the Western half's influence and "Roman-ness" plummets. The difficulties in doing so arises as other issues the Empire has had to deal with for years are now getting stronger and entirely newer problems arrive. Can Roman steel and their leaders' hope not only survive in this brave new world, but conquer it as well?

Well then, since updates in January are now eligible I will enter my own work once again in this competition... follow the (further adventures of prince Alphonse and his kin in the Levant, as they struggle to defend their small kingdom of the Crusader States against superior foes in a Medieval II Total War game with Stainless Steel 6.4 mod (late campaign). The author is the reknowned Strengelicher, the link can be found below...

Rome, a fledgling nation on the rise as it struggles to establish itself. To the north, the Etruscans. To the south and west across the Mediterranean Carthage and the tribes of Africa. Nearby the Greek city of Syracuse on the isle of Sicily.

Further north in Cisalpina, the Insubres, Veneti, and Ligurians, prominent tribes of the Celt and Gaul are neighbors on the south slopes of the Alps. Beyond the Alps to the north were the Barbarian tribes of the Gaul and Germana.

In the east across the Adriatic, the Greek city states hold sway,and to the west the tribes of Hispana.

The Senate has the power to wage war, and it has decreed that the legions shall secure Italia from threats from it's neighbors. The first task shall be to take the war north to the Etruscans, an ancient enemy of the Republic. Like the Samnites before them, the Etruscans shall meet their fate.

Edit: Since I'm not really sure of the AAR's future, and because I don't feel rushed to enter into this sort of competition, I'm withdrawing this nomination. I'll save it for a more worthy cause.

A tale of fierce viking raiders, and bloodthirsty captains taking completely unexpected courses as they shape history to their own ends.
A young prince seeks glory, despite the instructions of his uncle, the regent.
A seemingly useless old king proves to be more than anyone bargained for.
A scheming younger brother maneuvers his way through the courts of a young Catholic Kingdom.
And even death cannot stop the Wrath of the Vikings.
(In the meantime, no one really takes anything seriously )

Hopefully a refreshingly humorous entry that I work on when I'm feeling too happy or witty to write one of my sadder creative writing stories.

If the competition is extended to include April I'll submit Swords of the Sea to get things running. Even without Ed, I still count 5 Submissions. Is one of them invalid? Or is something wrong with my math?
