You can take Gaul or Macedonia, both have their own weaknesses, but Gaul probably has a better chance if you manage to defeat the Illyrian invasion. Or you can wait until another faction becomes available or someone wants to leave.

Sorry guys we need to wait for Fernandez, he has to play his turn or confirm who should sub him.

Syria is now available, currently it's one of the best factions. There's also Gaul which is attacked by Illyria. And possibly other factions available too because of the summer hiatus.
