    Default Armenian army makeup suggestions

    Hello all,

I'm in the middle of an Armenian campaign. It's around 225BC. I've Just conqured Pontus and Selucids are in no shape to withstand my military might. I have done all this using about 90% cavalry armies. Those AI armies just can't catch my horse Archers! It's a slaughter!

Anyway, I've just begun to train Armenian Legions. I'd like some suggestions on what my army make-up should be like. I was thinking:

    1 General, duh
    4 Cataphracts
    2 Cat archers
    2 Cavalry Archers
1 Regular archers or Javelins for elephants.
    8 Armenian legions
2 hillmen or Armored spearman (leaning towards hillmen, phalanx is slow)

I'm getting bored with the whole Cav. Archer slaughter and want to mix it up. any suggestions out there??

    Armenia! Woot!

I ALWAYS make my armies like this.

    General
    4 Cataphracts
    4 Horse Archers
    4 Legions
    4 Phalanx
1-2 Hillmen or other infantry for reserve/flanks
    1-2 archers

    Works all the time.

5 cats 5 cat. horse archers

    5 legions 5 phalanx.

    -------

I used that on vanilla against the romans on VH/VH (something like that), when attacking have half ur horse archers on each flank with half cats behind each aswell - send them slightly forward, the cat archers further forward and start eating the enemy flanks out (who will be defending), this usually drags a few of their units out to counter attack, after bringing them away far enough countercharge with the cats.

Rinse and repeat, or when they are weak enough after that (sometimes thye go into an attack if u do this for long enough) use your footsoldiers to move in on the centre.

i only played the romans with this kind of tactic where their infantry were far better than mine, when on the defence i used to lose the majority of my footsoldiers but my cavalry would already be behind/on the flank of the enemy to charge their behinds.
