Default Shell problem with MacBook boot camp

I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue involving shell command.

I remember from playing Stainless Steel years ago on a PC that hitting the "~" tilde key opened up shell command on the campaign map.

However, on my MacBook, after partitioning the hard drive with Boot Camp Assistant to play Stainless Steel on a Windows 7 platform, I've recently learned it is another button on the keyboard that does this. To cut a long story short, the shell command now opens up with the quotation mark key: ' and ". That means cheats like this don't work because hitting the quotation key CLOSES shell command:

    give_trait "Bernardo Selvo" "Austere" 3
    move_character "Bernardo Selvo" 122 231
    create_unit "Toledo" "Dismounted Chivalric Knights" 3 1 1 1

I've noticed recently, too that after having the guys at the computer shop partition my hard drive, the inputs from my keyboard are also a bit different. For instance, the small tilde key produces this: "§" The normal tilde key using the shift key produces this: "±" And on the number 3 key, instead of getting an American pounds symbol "#" when using shift, I get the British one instead: "£".

What the hell? I'm sure this all stems from those guys recently wiping my hard drive. How do I change key commands back to American style on my MacBook? I believe that's the stem of the problem. At least I hope it is.

For anyone who's interested, I've since fixed this problem. You just have to change the keyboard settings from British English to American English. Cheers.
