    Default Circling formation

Ok, without any huge introduction please click HERE and read the debate on the circling formation we had at the off. forum. I admit I was pretty surprised to find any opposition on the matter, so I'd like to post a poll...

So, should horse archers automatically stop the circling when chased by the cavalry or should the player always disable the circling manually?

Well first off, quite biased poll options.

Secondly, i read through the thread and i can see where you are coming from, eg units be smart enough to disable the special ability when its threatened by cavalry, but i agree with the other side of the arguments. Its the players choice when to turn it off, if the ai did it automatically, you could just leave your HA alone for the entire battle and not have to worry about them, where is the skill in that. Having to manage what they do, and when they use certain abilities means that you have to think mmore about how you are using them, and adds another tactical layer to the game.

What's biased about them? In reality the HA would definitely stop circling and flee. So what the game does is it makes them stupid. It's not bias, it's a fact.

Also I don't think this adds a tactical layer, it adds micromanagement. This ruins immersion and demands the use of pause. Naturally, that's only my opinion and this is why I posted the poll.

It's not making them stupid though, you may as well call every othwer unit in the TW series stupid as well cause the player has to control them.

And as for the use of pause, im one of those players who always uses pause, i like time to think about things. As a result i generally get owned in Mp, but im mainly a sp guy so i don't mind.

You're right, naturally. And this is also why I use AI led groups - because I know I wouldn't want to turn the battles into a clickfest, but I still love the immersion given by the real-time gameplay. Having some units perform on their own only adds to that, actually.

HA have some distinctions from others though. You can't keep an eye on them at all times since they are separated (if used normally). This is what bothers me.

I guess I'll just have to have at least two units, group them and put them under AI.

it seems logical that if the Ai can lure you into mud, it should flee when in peril.

Although not too many people participated in the poll, 3/4 agreed that the HA should leg it when chased... Not that it will change anything.

I dont even understand what this is about.
Some minor detail I didn't notice in years of RTW playing.
What do you expect? That Ca changes this in your faver a month before release.
