Default Further to a previous blood thread

The ratings label on Segas website confirms that blood will be in the game, however I suspect that it will be from missile hits and nothing else if the screenshots seen so far are anything to go by.

It makes sense to have blood included in a game like this, it is aimed at an adult audience and given that being hit with an arrow or chopped with a blade normally causes an effusion of blood, then the crimson stuff should be there. Seems rather silly to have 2000 or so hacked up corpses lying on a battlefield and not a drop of blood to be seen.

As blood will officially be in the game, can I ask if this will make it easier for modders to develop a gore mod for the game?

Blood was in from the start.
Even the first screenshot we saw from the game was a bloodied soldier.
Don't know why people keep forgetting this.

Only ever seen blood in one screenshot(and I have seen plenty screens) which was what looked like a spray from a missile hit.

However thanks for the info and if you could point me in the direction of the screeshots you refer to I will have a look.

And why is a war game rated "teen"? And why would blood suddenly make it "mature"? "Teens" have never seen blood in real life and must be protected from seeing the horrid liquid that flows in their own veins? ESRB hate +1... Why must teens ruin my gameplay experience? Everybody knows that everyone bought their 7 year-old kids a copy of GTA3/Vice city/San Andreas despite the fact that it was rated Mature. Nobody cares about the ratings, the gamers especially.

Don't I thought it was rather good. Anywho, as Guirza says it'll make the game less marketable if it's not aimed at people with the more numourous mid-systems. I suppose it's a matter of taste the blood thing but my opinion is that blood appearing of armour is preferable to gashes in a Dawn of War way. As so many people are killing each other the whole battlefield will end up a big red fountain everytime there's a cavalry charge...

totally agree for me blood is a must to have a good historical game but CA should also make an option to turn the blood off and everybody should be happy.

Well it's just too much fun to quote that picture. Isnt it? Cant we stop doing that?

Since Im the smartest person on earth I will solve this problem for you:
It doesnt matter! Because the game is going to be released in a month.
And nothing you say makes a difference.
When a soldier gets hit, his uniform will be some more red than before. Thats what you get.
No way you get anything more.
Ca may call it wha they want, but the fact is that all that's going to hapen is tat there's going to be some red color on the unit.

Thanks for that, that screenie is a new one to me.

Well at last another layer of realism is added, I know it sounds very bloodthirsty but in dealing with a game that involves hand to hand combat then blood simply has to be included.

Now as I mentioned in the first part of the thread then will this make it easier for the modding community to enhance the blood effects?

    Yeah.
If a soldier gets hit by a aword there will be blood on him.
The second time he gets hit, he dies.
From missile hits, there will be the splashes.

It's rated Teen which means small amounts of blood. If it was Mature, we would see huge blood fountains everyime a soldier would stab an enemy.

    Well blood doesn't actually splash.
You can stab someone without having blood everywhere.
    We dont need Hollywood blood.
Anyway, I dont need blood, but im fine with the way it is in the game now.

Thos splahes from arrow fire are cool.

They're nowhere near as cool as having the arrows stick to their targets, but I agree that would certainly require a lot more computer power, and is something I hope they will add in the next TW game.

You won't get more then that, not with M2TW.
So be happy with what you have and if not then play Rome.
Play Rome? Which had no blood at all? Yeah, that's a good idea...

I'm complaining about something that could be improved here - why are you opposing me?

Because it is quite frankly greedy.
In Rome everyone just beg just for alittle blood.
    And now we got it.
But of course that isn't enough
What is the old saying "give a guy a hand and he takes the arm" ??
Which is pretty much what this is.
CA was kind enough to add blood for us.
    So be happy about it.
Maybe the next game they will add more blood or they will remove it, time will tell but enjoy the blood for now.

I agree wholeheartedly. I am just pleased that they have taken this step to add a little more realism to the game. The argument about mid-spec systems is very valid, but I would imagine that it would not have been too difficult to have an option to turn off blood, or other effects if they were having too detrimental an effect on performance.

Let us wait and see the game before deciding whether there is too much or too little gore on the battlfield.

I read something interesting about what happens if people drown in M2TW, but I don't remember what. It looked like crap in RTW, everyone floating even if wearing armor... But the water in M2TW looks incredibly nice now, like most of the game, as of late. There's been a massive improvement of graphics in the latest few screenies. Red rivers would kick buttocks, unless the blood stained the river upstream as well... haha
