Default Tried many things before I made this - Crash to desktop

    Hello,

I have unticked the daylights savings time options. I have also put the windows 7 notification thing all the way down (this is the first thing I do on a windows 7 computer). I have deleted the two geography files but I am still getting the crash to desktop only with special units and only when there are about to attack the enemy (as opposed to crashing as soon as I try to enter the battle it let's me into the battle).

I have even re installed the game to c:\medeival 2 total war so that the string is not long. I updated to 3.2.

I have a core i5, gefore gtx 760 and 8 gbs ram. Graphics drivers are up to date as of February 3rd 2014.

Any advice? Other people seem to have gotten there's going without this level of interruptions. With a fan created mods I expect the odd crash but every time my Ents are about to attack boom crash its infuriating.

I played a long ass Rhun campaign with not problems actually beat the thing. I was however able to use auto resolve where crashes would occur but in this Rohan campaign I don't have that luxury.

    UPDATE:

Okay sweet its working guys! It was the geo files.

I was confused there I hadn't removed them yet from the new install on c:\ and now it works!

It was not working well it Steam at all! Better to install straight to C then follow those 3 instructions and it will work!

    UPDATE II:

Does anyone know have any other general stability tips? The game is running way better but it still crashes to desktop every once in while in combat. The music keeps running and it almost seems like the game is still running but it gives me the error box with no text.

    Thanks!

Are there any Dwarven Axethrowers present on either side in the battle which crashes? Or, are there any reinforcements present in battle which crashes?

Woops accidently made another thread... I already reported it.

Anyways yes there are reinforcements in the most recent CTD. Had two small morder armies and right before I charged the reinforcement army it crashed.

    Thanks!

Okay it just crashed and it did not have reinforcements. It was one group of ents attacking a custom settlement. I do not think it is the settlements though as I have had multiple battles with them no problem.

Right now it is crashing every single time I fight 2 small armies in the black marsh. Right before my cavalry charges the game crashes every time like clock work.

Reinforcement bug probably.. Fix for it is here: LINK. You will have to start a new campaign after applying the fix.

Also, some users have issues with Ents involved, it is due to their system specs. For example, a user reports this problem with Ents and uploads his savegame, I test it, and can play the battle which involves the Ents, but he can not play it. You can test with lowering ALL Video Options.

    Thanks Elven Kind.

I have used the 2gb patch and other system optimizations found at this thread:

    Pc Optimization:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...Guide-for-TATW

I am a little dubious that the 2gb+ patch even does anything at all. But CTDs have seemed to have been reduced.

It is really a shame this game only runs on 1 core. My 1 core is at 3.8 ghz with amble cache but I guess its just not enough. I had a huge minas tirith battle that was very choppy.

Use lower Unit size, lower Video Options, turn off battle shadows etc, don't use antialiasing etc..

What Video card do you have?

    I have the :

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760

    2 GBs ddr5 256 bit bus

Gpu Clock 993 mhz Memory 1502 mhz with 1059 Boost. The ram clock is a bit low because its a low end brand - Zotac. Runs all games nicely.
