Snowden has been nominated for the Nobel Peace prize by at least two members of the comitee.
While they admit his actions could have endangered in short term the security of several nations, they feel that good will come out of his efforts and a new era of transparency may dawn on us in the future.


Personally, I don't think Snowden actually endangered any nation, but giving the peace prize to a whistle-blower, bordering on traitor seems bad taste.

That is my question too. And I also find it naïve to think that because of a whistle blower, nations won't spy on each other, or do it less. All Snowden did IMO was to embarrass the USA and perhaps delay/cost some funds for a time the spying networks.

I would say opening the public eyes to the escalation and scale of spying both internally and externally so that the public might begin to place curbs on them. The scale of spying between nations, the increasing scale, and the internal civil liberty violations are not tolerable and the exposure of them to me will promote peace in the future or at least prevent conflict and abuse of the internal populations.

The idea that Obamas rule has been peaceful is laughable. Pulling out of wars was planned and strategic, the "war on terror" did not end and the "war on drugs" declining has been despite Obama not because of him. Obama is not a peaceful man or president.

At least he hasn't started any new wars.

The nobel prize committee has a tradition of decorating political dissidents. The only thing new is it's someone opposing a western regime this time around. That's also why he won't get it though.

why not to a whistle blower? what's wrong with those? They expose shady things, that the public ought to know, freedom, democracy, being the good guy etc... is a farce if it involves secrecy towards the population. Whistle blowers expose the truth which is a good thing

As for traitor, you are Greek he's not a traitor to you, only to the us, and even that is debatable since he's a traitor to the NSA specifically which in itself, was betraying the trust of the people of the usa
