How about I link you to the thread specifically on those reviews where you can see my and some other's points on that very subject? Link. You can comment there if you want.

Here is a review some Brit has done. Not bad on some of his points based on the game. I don't know who he is or what mods he plays but he covers a lot. I am in no way involved with this review and feel the guy could have watched his language better, but he did sum up a lot of the problems with the gameplay of RTW2 for people like me and others.
That guy is just a hater. Half of those things in the video have been fixed ages ago, and he doesn't show the upsides. He takes every little bad thing, spends like five minutes describing it, and moves onto the next one. And every time hes finished one thing, he does something which doesn't have anything to do with the game. 'Now, lets look at some soothing pictures of kittens.' There are some bad things in the game, but still. The review is kind of funny though.

+ 1 to what you have written, apart from finding it funny.

I found it quite difficult to watch, or should I say listen to due to swearing he used.

As much as I enjoyed playing Rome 1 vanilla (although I did use the SPQR mod, but much later on) I am now starting to enjoy Rome 2. I might actually get to finish my first campaign since I bought the game on release, but I am finding the latter part a bit of a grind. Then again I used to find the same with the original game and often I would give up towards the latter end of the campaign as there was little point continuing.
As long as they continue with their patching etc as they have been doing I'll be quite content overall with its development, just a pity that it was released as appallingly incomplete and dysfunctional as it was.
I do hope that they can pad out the political and diplomacy options.
